Exactly  That's a whole big deal. In fact, it's much easier to get Employment Pass for myself than to collect all documents and vaccinations for the cat. My poor cat will have to spend a month in a quarantine station, and she hates to fly.

First plans

Post by Asdracles » Fri, 16 Mar 2007 8:58 pm

Couldnt plan too much: Since i have arrived here, lot of things for doing: Employment Pass, checking work dependences, boss was away city until yesterday.....

Have a temporary accomodation, still will move next week, but dont know exactly where. All this seems a bit  , but is fine, really fine for me , lol

I will try to go tomorrow to St Patrick Day with another expats in forum, and try to join any other forum event i can.... Think its the better integration way. Just if i can help you, just PM me, and i will be pleased!

Asdracles - congratulations! ... What I'm going to do in my first days are: open a bank account; get a local phone & number; figure out about mobile Internet (e.g. a tablet or laptop) - heard there can be free WiFi, but noticed some paid plans as well; walk around the city, maybe to a beach (having two spare days before commencing work); meet somebody from the forum; and start looking for real estate agents.

chixchix - it's 14 hours with 2 hours stay in Dubai.
Regards

Hola Asdracles! Hope you enjoyed your first few days in Singapore. Did you get a new SIM card now? If not yet, I suggest you get a Singtel. On my last trip I found out that I can get a top-up card worth 28 SGD but the value credited on my account would be 100 SGD. So that's a lot of local calls and SMS.

Ruslan, the free wi-fi is not always available everywhere. I was staying in Golden Landmark Hotel last week and I can't get a signal from there. I'll be flying back to Singapore tomorrow (in Manila now) to stay for another week in Sg. Hopefully by April or May, I'll be able to move to Singapore permanently. I also hope to get to meet you and your kitty. :)

I have the Singtel from my company and got a M1 Card for myself, this has very cheap overseas rates, ie 1sms for 15 c, which is actually cheaper than one sms inside germany !!! so I got this one to stay in touch with by friends and familiy also.

Thanks for the tips! Can one buy a Singtel without a EP? (I'll collect mine on the next week after my arrival.)

Also need a new phone (because want to keep my current number on), - is SimLim the best place to buy one? (Samsung I320, which costs 630 SGD in Russia) [Update:] Or it's possible to get this model together with a plan from a mobile operator?

M1 offer broadband Internet together with a free laptop. Does anybody have experience with them?

I think without the EP you can only get a prepaid number.
