Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
Hi all, has anyone recently managed to walk in to complete formalities for their visa? Especially LTVP! I just got the approval in principal but the next e-appointment available was in MID NOVEMBER, desperately need the pass asap so that I can start working (found a company already). I saw that some managed to walk in and got their pass on the same day but had to wait a long time, I don't mind that at all so any advice or personal stories will be welcomed! Thanks!
Re: Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
If every Tom, Dick, and Harry walks in without an appointment, ICA will be overwhelmed.
If you’re walking in, what others have suggested on the forum is to queue before the doors open. Do not attempt to go in the afternoon or there’s a high chance of being turned away.
I don’t know what’s the situation right now and whether there is still staff on the ground floor that checks if you have an appointment that day but if there is a staff, you can try and ask nicely to be let in. Then there’s the matter of getting a queue number at the LTVP floor, if I remember correctly, there is a counter at the entrance to get a number and again, you’ll have to ask nicely.

Re: Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
The safest way to ensure you are seen is to make an appointment. If, like you say, that is not possible, then the recommendation is to go on an off peak time.
Re: Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
Yes, possible to walk in but be prepared to wait for a long time as the queue is long! "Long" might not be the correct word, more like ICA's 4th floor lobby is packed to the brim with ppl, idk, i think i saw 40-50 ppl?RikoSu wrote: ↑Thu, 18 Aug 2022 5:50 pmHi all, has anyone recently managed to walk in to complete formalities for their visa? I was there last Sat morning with a 9AM appointment to complete LTVP formalities. The moment we took the escalator up and reached the 4th floor landing, the security officer asked us what our purpose of visit were and directed us to the crowd to queue up. Only when we mentioned we had booked e-appointment then he let us entered the big room. Seems like a norm that a lot of ppl come down without appointment, that explains his initial action of asking us to queue up.
Re: Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
My wife having the same issue, she got her approval. Upon trying to register to complete the formalities. Next available appointment date is on December now and her IPA will expire in nov if we don’t complete the formalities before that. I’m stuck in dilemma , I have already emailed ICA and it’s been 1 month and no response so far.RikoSu wrote:Hi all, has anyone recently managed to walk in to complete formalities for their visa? ^ Then just do a walk in to get the LTVP done and say that the IPA expires in Nov but earliest appointment is in Dec. That is a very reasonable explanation.
Re: Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
Yeah the people at ICA are really nice and patient even though they are super overwhelmed (when I went to inquire about another matter they were all super helpful) and I really feel bad for being another one that walks in without an appointment... but I do need to support my family with this job asap so hopefully they will allow me to walk in instead of waiting another 3 months.MOCHS wrote: ↑Thu, 18 Aug 2022 6:55 pmIf every Tom, Dick, and Harry walks in without an appointment, ICA will be overwhelmed.

I will try next week, maybe Tuesday? I'm thinking that Monday will probably be pretty packed so I will go in on Tuesday with my spouse.
My IPA expires on the day of my appointment but my short term pass expires first week of September (I’ve extended once already) . Anyway I will post an update for those who need any help next week!
Thanks to all who sent their advice and experience as well, truly appreciate it.
Re: Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
Hi all,
Here’s the update for those who are interested in walking in without an E-appointment, I managed to get my LTVP yesterday.
But my spouse and I waited for a whopping 9 hours.
Maybe your wait will be shorter but I can guarantee you that it won’t be longer than our experience hahaha. I would also advice to arrive before the doors open (like what many others also mentioned) but I couldn’t due to some family stuff I had to attend to.
I arrived at ICA just a little before 9am, and there was an extremely long line to get the queue number.(think lines at a theme park) It took almost an hour to get to the counter.
I explained the situation, and told them that I would like to complete the formalities and they asked me why I didn’t come earlier in the morning if I wanted a walk-in. (So another reason to come before the doors open yeah)
They then told me that I will have to wait a very long time, 3-5 hours, and they asked me to go get breakfast first. We went for breakfast and proceeded to wait, we were called at around 5.45pm and received the card around 20 mins later.
There were very few people left at that time and I overheard the staff telling someone that for those who managed to get a queue number, do not worry as you will definitely get to be served, they also seem to close the doors at around 4.30 if I’m not wrong, so everyone that managed to get a queue number for the day will definitely get a chance to be called up and served.
So good luck to any others who are trying to get their pass without an appointment but do remember that they are extremely, extremely overwhelmed now so if you do not need the pass asap, it’ll be better to wait for your appointment date. (And do be nice to them!)

Re: Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
Unfortunately there are far too many people who needs an appointment and far two few slots to go around, you are very lucky to have gotten a slot but for most who need action urgently, queuing is the only option. 40 to 50 isn’t that bad though.shiracha wrote: ↑Fri, 19 Aug 2022 12:36 amYes, possible to walk in but be prepared to wait for a long time as the queue is long! Re: Walk in ICA with no e-appointment
I might have beaten you on the wait. Reach ICA around 830 and collected the queue number and by the time my wife collected the IC it was 1740. All went well , so no complains even though with the long wait. Definitely advise those who wanna walk in to come early as possible.RikoSu wrote:Hi all,

On a side note, It would be nice if ICA could add implement queue status app or website in future.

Yup, something similar to the jb causeway queue or the chope queue system where they call you when it’s nearly your turn would be nice.Milu_kaka wrote: ↑Tue, 30 Aug 2022 5:44 pmI might have beaten you on the wait.
