Need help with PR chances

Post by derricklam87 » Thu, 21 Apr 2022 10:02 am

I am a SG citizen and I have been married to my wife for three years. We are in our early 30s, and my wife is from another Southeast Asian country. We applied for PR once unsuccessfully last year, and appeal also got rejected. We are looking to apply again and would appreciate any advice.

For some background, my wife and I are currently working in the USA and our combined income around 180,000K SGD. My wife spent one year prior working in Singapore. We are looking to move back to SG soon and having a PR is important to us.

Can I get an assessment of our chances? also, do yall think contacting the MP to support our application will help? Many thanks. :)

Will let the experts weigh in but you do need to be a “resident” to apply for permanent residency . Probably once you are back in Singapore and spent couple of years here then you will stand a berry chance .

If your wife hasn’t been residing in SG for years when you submit PR application, why would ICA grant her PR if she is well, you know, not physically here in SG at all?

PR is for people who want be here permanently as the name implies, not take PR and jet off elsewhere 90% of the time.

Every time a foreigner leaves SG for long-term work in another country, the time they spent in SG will be reset back to zero when they step back into SG again.

Option is to come back and apply LTVP for her. Then when she’s been here in SG for at least 2 years, then apply PR.
