Regd. Moving to Singapore

Post by NandakumarUdayakumar » Sun, 09 Aug 2020 4:08 am

Hi Everyone,

Hope things are going well. I am currently residing in us and working for a tech company. I am an Indian National (Tamilian). I am interested in moving to Singapore and working there. It is closer to my family and feel like Singapore is a good place to live and work. I have few questions , if anyone can help me.

1) Are there any sentiments against Indians in Singapore. We may not be the richest people, but is there anything to be concerned about. Is there any hatred to be worried about?

2) How is the job market in tech companies in Singapore. Can I change employers on work visa?

3) How hard is it to get a PR. If not a PR, can I work for longer number of years on just work visa?

4) How is the weather? If I look at weather app, it shows thunderstorms almost everyday? Is it always cloudy?

Thanks in advance.

You need to spend time on these forums.
1. Yes, too many of you here. Not popular with the locals. But to be fair the locals don't like any foreigners.
2. It's rubbish and getting worse. Employer provides your visa so changing employers is not always easy.
3. Hard. Forget it for the next 5 years at least and you may never be get it.
4. Good if you like year round heat.

1. You will read about the vitriol against foreigners mostly online but in day to day life, you will seldom see it. It does happen though. When renting, there are landlords that do not want to rent to certain groups.
2. Job market is impacted by Covid, so there are less opportunities available for foreigners.
3. PR is hard to get except when you are a Malaysian.
4. Weather is tropical with dry and rainy seasons.
