Swapping landed for condo - how to do this?

Post by itp » Mon, 24 Nov 2014 10:33 am

Hi,

We have a unit in a cluster housing near Newton that is a multi storeyed townhouse kind of unit that is classified as "strata landed". We want to move into a condo instead and are looking at ways to swap it with someone who may currently be living in a condo and are looking to move into independent unit. What is the best way to go about this? We looked at property websites but they are all just venues for individual buy and sale ads. How do we go about identifying people willing to do a swap? Please advise. Thanks./

Regards

Nah..that one seems to be a holiday home swap deal. Looking at a permanent swap/transfer of titles.

Sooo... in such situations isn't the norm to sell and then buy?

I'm a bit confused; what do you hope to gain by a trade?

I may be interested in doing a swap. If you PM me I'll send you the details of where I live.

Is this a title swap or just swapping rental leases?
I not lawyer/teacher/CPA.
You've been arrested? Law Society of Singapore can provide referrals.
You want an International School job? School website or http://www.ISS.edu
Your rugrat needs a School? Avoid for profit schools
You need Tax advice? Ask a CPA
You ran away without doing NS? Shame on you!

Could be a title swap or a rental swap. There are benefits of doing a swap vs. doing it individually...which I am sure you can figure out if you think through the process involved.

Send me a private message. I live in a condo and would consider this swap. Thought through this and makes sense.

I agree, seems scammy. If both properties are each valued exactly equally, *maybe* it could make sense to avoid some fees and extra paperwork. But it seems you're forgoing legal protections opening yourself up to a lot of potential risk just to save some taxes and fees.

It seems even more scammy with some orchestrated or so looking responses.

Edited: After checking, nobody should be really surprised knowing that Nathan and itp post from the same IP.
