Travel overseas with baby

Post by gabrielmom » Wed, 06 Jun 2007 5:09 pm

Hi Mummies,

I have 7 months baby boy and hubby may be traveling to Europe (Paris, London, Berlin) on business trip. I feel like tagging along, and bringing baby as well. I'm not sure what to bring and whether there are baby friendly places in the malls, such as changing stations in the malls, ramps, etc. Also, baby is on formula milk (NAN HA2), so that means also bringing a tub of milk powder along together with diapers :???: Need your advice, thank you!

Hi, We have always travelled everywhere with our son and have never run into any difficulities, although we always used to just take enough milk for a few days and tyhen buy a milk when we arrived (luckily the boy is a human waste bin and dosnt care what he drinks) We also jst take enough nappies to last until we get there amnd then go out and buy some. Im sure you will be fine, most places are pretty chiold friendly now.

Good luck.

Helen

Hi! A few yesras ago we travelled with our 7 months old daughter to London and Paris (and to many other places then and later, as well). Didn't have any problems with finding Pampers for her (in fact, I really loved the ones I bought in the UK and France, and missed them afterwards in Singapore). They sell them in pharmacies and supermarkets which are everywhere (especially in London). Cannot comment on formula milk as I was breastfeeding. The only difficulty I had during that particular trip was to find baby food (it was usually quite a mixture of ingredients, but I had just started giving her solids and needed simple purees).

Generally, places were child-friendly (except for Paris and London underground, lots of stairs), I don't remember major problems.

Good luck with your trip!

We have traveled quite a lot with our baby (now 11 months and been to over a dozen countries) and I agree with what is said above when it comes to travel in Europe. Bring enough food/nappies to get you through 2 days and you'll be able to find what you need there (wipes, nappies, etc). I would suggest bringing your own milk powder in case you don't find what you need there. I was scrambling to find Enfalac on a recent trip and my baby rejected the other milk powder I tried to give her first.

If you're staying in a hotel, you will need to bring sterilizing tablets and bottle brush to wash the bottles in the bathroom sink (you can buy the detergent there). If you're at someone's home, then washing and boiling the bottles will be easier.

Other than that, warm clothes for the airplane and a few toys (like a compact playmat) will do.

Good luck!

Not sure if this is an old tip but ive heard quite a few airlines have nappies on board. We ran out one time as my son decided he was going to pooh through our entire 'plane' supply! He was 1 at the time so you can imagine he was having very regular movements. We flew with Virgin and BA and i hear SIA do the same.
Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt and live like there's no tomorrow!
