REP under FTS (stuck overseas during covid)

Post by ricedoll » Sat, 18 Sep 2021 10:48 pm

My husband got his PR after we were newly married.
In a few months, he is due for his PR renewal which I sponsored at initial application.
Fast fwd during these 5 years....
Now we have 2 children, studying local schools, we also since bought our own private property.
He works overseas and live majority of his life and time in Singapore, but covid caused him stuck overseas TEMPORARILY right now (back forth quarantine is not feasible for job nature).

- Can ICA see that we have 2 SC children now?
- Can ICA see that we bought our own private property here?
- I see that you can renew your REP online, assuming overseas before it expires. Is this true - to be able to renew online? He is under Families Tie Scheme.
- What questions are asked while filing a REP renewal online? Someone mentioned: Do you live in SG / and Do you work in SG? Are these the questions for FTS REP renewal?

Thank you! :) :) :)

Does he work overseas with a Singapore salary credited in Singapore and a CPF contribution or is it for an entity that pays him overseas?

He works for an overseas company based overseas but commute back to Singapore to live.
When we applied for his PR, we were not even living in SG, no property in SG, no kids yet - just newly married overseas. His PR was under families ties scheme.
Any idea ICA can pull up his name and see that we are owning a SG property, with 2 local school kids now? What questions pop up when you renew your PR under FTS?
Thanks

Owning a property wouldn't make much of a difference. The kids yes.

What they can have access is a bit of mystery. I renewed my REP earlier this year, and it seems there is more details asked that it used to be. Information that you'd think gov agencies have access to. So seems that some of the privacy laws etc limit low level admins access to your data or why would they otherwise ask my salary information available from IRAS (and CPF) or if I'm married to a SC (considering that I got my PR with the family ties scheme). The 2 SC kids would add some points, especially if he's from a country that you all could reasonably migrate to, that would be losing 3 citizens.

So, can't say what would happen to your case but I'd say just apply online for the renewal as early as possible (3months before expiry) and if rejected then try to do what you can.
