I rejected the first offer that company x gave. Upon rejection, I know that there might be an amount of fine that I need to pay. I sent out mail to the HR of company x, stating to give me the figure. Until today (4 months) the HR never mail or even call me regarding the figure.

My concern is that as I am currently applying for employment pass, will this issue become a hindrance toward my EP application status? It is definitely ethical to ask them, but at the same time, I am not sure why they never even revert to me for so long. My phone number, email and even address have never changed since then. So, now as my EP is under process, I always wonder, whether I should straighten this matter or just let it go...

Please kindly give a bit of your advice - and - although ethically speaking, there is nothing wrong to ask them, but at the same time, I always wonder whether it is a mistake on behalf of mine as I never even get any further request/call from this company..

I personally don't have a clue as to what your are saying. What "fine" are you talking about.

Anyway, based on that explanation, it won't be an hindrance anyway as it's basically against the law for agents to charge job seekers in Singapore. Therefore, they ain't gonna say nothing for fear of getting themselves in a jam and possibly causing the agency (if one is involved) to lose their license.

However, like MS says, if you signed an employment contract with a non-performance clause that is payable TO THE EMPLOYER then it's possible but not likely. MOM doesn't usually concern themselves with things like that unless it's specifically against MOM rules.

Well - The only thing is that the company never contacts me regarding it, and in fact, after I had communicated my cancellation, they do not pursue any further action on it, although I had asked them to tell me how much...

Then don't worry about it.

For your EP ; if you wanna be worried , you would end up in Woodbridge .
If you have submitted all the docs they required, there is nothing you can do, so.....worrying will only make it worse

How bad can it go after this ?? The worse that can happen to you is to take the first ticket home.

As I understand, an employment contract doesn't become legally binding until the employee starts work on their first day.

Is that the "Letter of Offer' or the actual "Employment Contract"?

Umm - it is letter of offer I believe. I did not turn up on my first day of work of course. But I have an EP approval, which in the end I rejected.

Is there any law stating that the employment contract does not applicable only when an employee turn up on his 1st day ?

It is a letter of offer that only have 2 pages on it - and it states that if I did not give a proper notice - then I should pay administrative fee. But the thing is that, they never chase me up ... it has been 5 months. and I even never run away from them - as I always have the same phone number and email ... so what do you think? I even ask them and they say - they will revert to me - but nothing comes to me after that.
