Anyone has any ideas as to how to treat cradle cap? By which age (which month) usually does this problem subside? Thanks.

Hi, I remembered I used Johnson baby oil for my son. It helps. But it only subsided when he's about 6 months old.

What is good for cradle cap is to mix a little honey with some baby moisteriser. The honey acts to hold the moisture on the skin to promote healing and thus the cradle cap will eventually clear up. Same if anyone has really dry patches of skin or eczema

I have in the past used olive oil daily during the bath as advised by my Maternal Health Nurse in Aust. It works and it can take time for it to clear.

I would have been lost without the Maternal Health Nurse when my two were babies, having no family or relatives in Australia to help me. Olive oil is a great solution, but only in small quanities. I seem to remember it will disappear within 3-6 months.

Nothing, just wash with warm water. It will disappear in 3 months time.

you go to a store like mothercare or a pharmacy and ask for specific shampoo treatment. we used baby oil...it does eventually just disappear.

It will go off on its own. However I did below steps on 3rd month when didnt disappear.
Apply olive oil/ coconut oil and leave it for 10-15mins. Using comb gently comb. It will fall off. Use mild baby shampoo and ones hair is dry use little oil and apply on scalp. I did this 3 days it cleared off totally.

My son had it and then in about 6 months it miraculously disappeared. I took him to several doctors, the main point there being he was tested to have higher sensitivity to allergies (cradle cap being one of the first indicators?) which can manifests itself in 3 possible ways, (1) is eczema, which he doesn't have but in new environments he tends to break out in a bad rash and needs time to adjust, he also from time to time needs to go on antihistamine and we have a bunch of creams as well. Once the rash was so bad his face was swollen then we needed a dose of steroids to counter it. I am planning to take him to an oesteopath as an alternative medicine trial to see if they can stimulate his normal immune response instead. (2) way this condition can manifest is thru asthma which my son does not have. The third I can't remember now!
I do remember one of the drs recommending some type of tar shampoo thing that smelled really toxic for his cradle cap which I did not use. My 2 cents... it will go latest by 6 months, don't worry!

Carolyn,
My baby got ezcema. u might want to consider giving external immunity booster like childlife products. U can find further details on childlife.net. Check with ur PD if ok to give or not.

Thanks for that, will look into it. So far the immune boosters etc don't seem to do anything.
