My Pet Peeves

Post by Global Citizen » Sun, 09 Jan 2005 10:32 am

This seems like a good place to vent my pet peeves so here goes but not listed in any order of priority. Feel free to add in yours.
Disclaimer: the views expressed are strictly mine and not intended to offend any person living or otherwise. So if you recognise yourself, just move on and take it for what it is....

1. The latest trend of having your bra straps showing. All of a sudden its AOK to do so instead of it being tacky, tacky, tacky. Incidentally I also feel the same way about guys who let their underwear hang out thus ensuring the brand label shows. Must say though the underwear thingy seems predominant amongst the younger generation of younger guys.

2. People who wear their caps or sneakers with labels still intact. I'm not talking about the labels that are sewn on here, but you know the ones you're meant to snip off when you get home.

3. The complete decay and downfall of spelling in the English language as seen in sms and the internet. Urrgh..... dun, frens are but a couple of examples and the list goes on. I destest it with a passion!!

4. People who want something for nothing. There are no free rides baby!

5.People who do not take responsibility for their actions. It's always someone else's fault.

6. People whose conversations revolve around I, me and myself. Get over yourself. The last person who probably gave a fig was/is your mother, Period!

7. Pathological liars. Heck, this group of people lie even when there's no need to. They've just become so artfully skilled in the art of deception, they don't even realise they're doing it sometimes.

8. Women who insist on wearing outfits that just weren't meant for their bodies. I mean bare midriffs exposed where rolls of fat compete, skin tight tees but gravity has long taken its toll and it doesn't look pretty but too contrived or in local lingo, try too hard! I see a lot of it where I live.

I am completely with you on this one!!! And, it's not just women for whom 'gravilty has long taken its toll' - I've seen younger women who are just out of shape or simply have the wrong body type to wear what they are trying to wear. Some people just simply don't look in a mirror at all I guess. (And, no, I don't think I look perfect, but at least I try to wear stuff that suits me.)

I know this is an old one, but can be fun to "refresh".

My pet peeve are women who complain about ten cents increase in coffee, or fifty cents increment on a bowl of noodles, but spend $2000 on a bag.

Anyone else have more to add?

Mine would be of people who simply walk on by you without saying ''thank you'' or even at the very least acknowledging you when you hold the lift door/any kind of door open for them. And all genuinely out of good intentions and courtesy!

Drivers who bypass a queue of patiently waiting cars and then try to cut in at the front. In other countries it sometimes happens and I assumed they made a mistake and would let them in. Here it seems to be the rule rather than the exception, so I do not.

Also agree on the bare midriff, rolls of excess fat. It even seems to have extended to advanced pregnancy - It does not look pretty.

Two for me:

1. People who are consistently late to everything.

2. People who use the word 'literally' incorrectly (for example, "I literally died laughing" - no you didn't, otherwise you wouldn't be alive!)

Something that peeves me more and more is when you are walking through a mall, keeping to the left as one should, and an oncoming person decides to duck in between you and the wall - despite the small space thats there.

I used to try to weave out of the way when that happened, but now I let them bounce off me after giving them a warning shake of the head - I am 193cm and 100kg so its not an issue for me.

After 5 year still can't figure out why...

So we've ascertained that you are a fat git who is also a bully . . . nice one! When's the last time you body-checked a pregnant woman into the wall? How about an octogenarian with a walking stick?

Legend, mate . . . bloody legend.

...'keeping to the left, as one should.' . . .

I never knew that keeping left while walking in a mall was set in stone.

There is this one lady cashier at the bank I frequent . . . she has these four dead-arse straight nosehairs sticking out of her left nostril, long enough to touch her upper lip! Image Image Image Image
