Hi Guys

I'm looking at condos in Somerset.

What do you guys think of the area, is it any good?

Specifically, what do you think of Illuminaire and The Metz? These are in the Devonshire Road side of Somerset.

I suppose it depends on your taste, but, Somerset area is very busy and very expensive, I am sure the condos are lovely, even if they are, I wouldn't live there, too many shops!

What kind of place are you looking to live? Right next to all the main malls? Or are you comfortable a little distance away? If you want to get more for your money, I'd personally move away a bit

I'm not too sure about the areas, I've never been to SG before.

I'd prefer to live where there is stuff going on so that i can keep myself occupied.

My office is near the Orchard area so ideally I'd like to be within walking distance.

I hear it's quite noisy around Somerset due to building developments, is this true do you know?

First thing, if you cannot deal with construction going on nearby, you're moving to the wrong country. The national bird is the crane (not the winged types). Really, everywhere is under construction of some sort.

I personally do not like Orchard area, as it's crowded and most of the shops are of no interest to me. There are lots of places to live and still be close to Orchard. I am in Tiong Bahru, for example, and I'm 3 bus stops from one of my offices at Wheelock Place. This is a SMALL island, so nothing is very far away. Pick your place to live based on the amenities around it and the cost. you will see it's not long to get to work unless you're out in Pasir Ris or Jurong West, etc. Good luck!
