My parents were with Wycliffe Bible Translators - an inter-denominational mission group that specializes in documenting languages that have no written form and then translating the bible, medical literature, reading primers etc into that language. They do a lot of social and literacy work as well in > 100 countries. The work is very rewarding spiritually and emotionally - my FIL has been with them for almost 50 years and is only just retiring at 83. Although the job is not financially rewarding God seems to look after His servants and the mission itself makes efforts to provide retirement homes and communities to the old missos.
