Russia is obviously running the show there from the start. The problem with them is that they have the mentality of a clown on steroids, always trying to flex muscles but never able to do so without making fools of themselves.

The west is playing this game quite well, even though most people don't realise that the only way to counter Russia is to go after the elites and NEVER endanger their current economic model. If you target the top people, you are hitting them where it hurts. After all, does the Russian so-called "government" care about anyone else but themselves? Of course not.

If we were to hurt them economically we could in fact help them out and harm ourselves. Currently Russia is an extremely primitive economy that sells raw materials like oil to the West and then spends huge amounts of cash in imports. Why would we want to change that? It is in our interest not to alter the status quo. Strong sanctions would do just that, forcing the Russian economy to develop and move forward to survive.

So you think, it is better to destroy Ukraine now in order to destroy Russia later? Or it is better to help Ukraine now so Russia will recover from its regime? Sounds like the 1st option is better for you in both short run (economy, investments) and long run (Russia is still weak, and West looks strong)

Kerry: U.S. Taped Moscow’s Calls to Its Ukraine Spies

According to Ukrainian news, US already rushed to disprove it. They say "we didn't tap, we use data given to us by Ukrainians"

Latest news:
terrorists - new towns captured just yesterday, new administrative buildings captured, new set of grenade launchers at hands of terrorists, new killings, new ethnic cleansing of anyone with Ukrainian symbols in Ukraine.

Meanwhile:
* ATO has an military have orders to hold and wait for further instructions (for 3rd consecutive day),
* Police has order from Kiev to stay away and not to get involved in anything.
* Minister of Interior Affairs (chief country policeman) is out of country to negotiate return of a few millions stolen by last president (wth?! he stole billions!!!)
* Interim president dismissed parliament for holidays until 6th of May.

THAT'S IT!
East of Ukraine is openly dumped to Russia and got rid of to buy some time and hold presidential elections. Yulia Timoshenko sold all of us. Just as she almost destroyed our economy and got in jail years ago, she is ready to put Ukraine to brink of destructions only to have chance to become a president. Everybody knows she is number 2 and lagging behind the lead candidate, everybody knows Ukraine can't afford having more than one tour (if at all!!! every day may be final now) of elections, everybody knows she must stop running for presidency to save the country. She doesn't care. Interim president, minister of internal affairs and prime minister - members of her political party and are subjected to her. She is ready to dump 20% of our territory without resistance to hold elections on other 80%.

We have unrest in Kiev now. DO NOT believe it is caused by Russia, not this time! This time I hope people will lynch Timoshenko, her interim president and the government for betrayal of the country!

US citizens, what's your attitude towards Russian propaganda?

According to Russia everything that is happening in Ukraine now - that's all fault of Americans!

And this is why so many Americans (and others) can't stand the French:

They're one of the primary pro/an-tagnonists of the EU which was pushing Ukraine to join which started all of this shit, yet here they are being Russia's bitches.

The French really are a law unto themselves.....

Did you see that they passed a law giving the French Parliament the final say over whether a French company can be taken over by a foreign one!!!!

The French Govt company EDF own most of the UK electricity distribution and maybe some of the generation too, I can imagine how they would have reacted if UK Parliament said no..... They would have been off to EU court of something or other to get the UK fined.

I dont think anyone takes the French seriously anymore on any subject.

Selling warships to Russia, add the EU moratorium on selling weapons to Ukraine at the same time and you will see how much hypocrisy is there.

Well that'll be the French for you.

Do you remember how the French were selling Super-Etandard fighter-bombers to Argentina, together with Exocet guided missiles - DURING - the Falklands War?

And how the Argentinians used one to sink the British Destroyer HMS Sheffield. With 'allies' like that who needs enemies?

Donetsk - situation for my parents...

Railroad company where my mother works is captured by gunmen. Train communication with the city completely stopped. The "gunmen" honestly told the staff that they better dun give much hope for salary for next couple of months (then Russia will come and help absolutely everybody).

Mother's job is affected, but she needs to feed a lot of ppl currently and is the only earner in the family - there is father (his business is going badly since the mess started 2 months ago), brother and his wife (both currently not working) with an infant daughter and retired 80+ years old grandmother.

I sent some money bank home, but all banks don't work for several days already: bank branches are closed and captured by gunmen, ATMs don't work (gunmen say those are fascist Ukrainian banks, Russia will help later). So mother can't receive my money, even though they're on her account.

Mother cud've gone to neighbour region (Dnepropetrovsk) to withdraw that money, but trains don't work (read above). She could use a bus or a car, but there are terrorists outposts everywhere, they're robbing people outright "in the name of revolution".

Ukrainian military is busy fumbling in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk showing their humanity and trying not to affect any "peaceful citizens", nobody is even thinking about Donetsk yet.

Thank you for your care and your helping us, ethnic Russians in Ukraine, dear mister Putin!

P.S.: My mother told me yesterday that gunmen were very polite in their canteen and even paid for their meal, unlike some government nationalists. I left her in confusion after telling her she still works for government organization and receives salary from the government, and those money in canteen were actually her money she won't receive in next months and my money I sent to help her (terrorist themselves don't work, do they?). But there are many many more confused people in Donetsk who are staying away from all the politics, all they see is gunmen in front of them. Voice from Kiev don't reach those people - tv and radio are jammed, only Russian channels are on air.

Russians "unofficially" tried to break Ukrainian border several times today - small convoys so it will not look like invasion. Terrorists suddenly (magically?) have Russian helicopters in arsenal now - they bombed a Ukrainian convoy today. Shitload of dead bodies, still counting.
