FNDC @ Zsofi Tapas Bar 17th Jan 2014

Post by littlegreenmartian » Wed, 15 Jan 2014 4:49 pm

Hi there FNDCers,
this friday, to kick off the year, we'll be headed off to little india to the quaint and oft visited Zsofi Tapas Bar. The bar sits along the street where the crowd of migrant workers, backpackers and intrepid tourists go to visit the quaint drinking spots and eateries. The atmosphere of drinking on the rooftop of a bar is tempered delectably by deliciously piquant pizzas and wine.

An open roof top bar, a drink and pizza.

Venue: Zsofi Tapas Bar, 68 Dunlop Street, Singapore 209396
Time: 830 pm - Late

How to get there:
1. Take the purple line NEL to the Little India Station
2. http://goo.gl/maps/fCZh1
3. It is a red coloured shopfront with a stairway to the top.

Also this day being Thaipusam, a festival day for devotees of the tamil community in Singapore, be prepared with cameras if you have a day off and want to take away the colourful experience of devotees and their kavadis. This visual spectacle of the celebration is a sight to behold and experience.

For a better walkabout, follow this route. You'll be on the main street and have a better view of the procession and you should probably start earlier.

The times for the thaipusam is
16th Jan 23:00 to 17th jan 00:00

If you're keen on having a taste of the festival beginnings, the devotees should be preparing in the early hours today. Be respectful of their space and no flash photography.

The revised map if you just want to head to the pub is :
1. The east west line ( green line ) to Bugis Junction

Alternatively you could try this route, assuming the main road crossing is open:
