Need guidance to start a new biz

I am an IT guy. For last 9 years, I have been working in different IT positions. While working, at the sametime I used to do small businesses like software developments, selling hardwares and corporate trainings in Malaysia, SG and India. I am looking to start doing something of my own. Due to competitions, I know it is difficult to gain more if I start any IT business now. I am looking in other fields as well. I am experienced in marketing products. Appreciate if anyone can guide me or share their experiences.
