Long story short - rejected is the outcome of the case...

Sorry to hear that, mate. The loss is theirs, not yours. They probably know it but, cant do anything about it.
Thanks for updating though. So it took 7 months for the outcome.

3/1 to 5/8, 8 months. Did you reapply WD? I don't think I will or should.

Thanks Manoj, BTW, 3/1 to 8/5 is 7 months, lah.
We are basically flying blind here. Not sure, what the criteria is and whether re applying is worth it or not.
I know of another Indian who was rejected on the 2nd application and then he appealed and got approved. I wonder what he mentioned in the appeal letter.
The PR approval process in Singapore is probably the ultimate black box of human history.

WD - I want to be Singaporean. Not PR but Singaporean. When I write this I am reminded of my mother telling me the story of the crow who wanted to be a peacock. Not sure you have heard it but I am seriously wondering if I should reapply. I have still not gotten the mail rejection. I wonder where that is now?

what reasons/changes will you cite during your appeal?
and... did ICA welcome you to reapply again in future or...?
those two might help determine whether or not you're wasting your time (appealing THIS application).

There is no mention that I will be welcome in future. I love Singapore but I am not a crow. Thanks everyone for your inputs. See you in my next life. Best of Luck!

They dont mention it any more to most people, except for the one specific favorite race, coming from the 2 neighbouring countries, for whom PR is automatic, if they spend XX years.
For the rest of us, you just need to keep applying/appealing as reasonable frequencies, regardless of what is written in the letter. I know people who applied and succeeded on their 2,3,4... time.
I also know people who were asked to repply after 2 years and then 2 years later, when they applied they got rejected, because the rules changed.
So like I said, earlier, its a black box, keep re applying at reasonable intervals. There is nothing to lose afterall.

Some people who applied after me have gotten their PR cards (sigh!), some people have gotten rejection notices (damn!), some Angmoh's got their coveted status in 3 months! I am still waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting & waiting some more...
no news might b good news
my friend got rejected after 2 months, 2nd time rejection, bachelor degree from China U, master degree in finance from NUS and holding EP for 3 years, China Chinese.
quite surprise as quite a number of China Chinese colleagues who graduated from local U with bachelor degree able to get PR but not Master degree ....

Jia Jia / WD40 et. al. Update on re-application for Singapore PR -> Withdrawn after 6 months of waiting.
Reason: Immigrated to Canada. Now 3 months into Canada PR. Loving it! Miss Singapore a fair bit. I guess the feeling will wear off but the friendships I forged, the people I miss - will never change. <Sigh!> You win some. You lose some. Life goes on...
Cheers!

Hahaha... and there was me teasing that you were making such an OTT show of 'pre-patriotism' that you probably had the SGn flag for your bedclothes and 'Mahjullah Singapora' programmed into your alarm clock.
Perhaps this is why the government make applicants wait so long; those without the genuine commitment tend to weed themselves out of the application process before it reaches it's conclusion.
Best of luck in Canada, I envy you the welcoming locals and world-class snow!

LOL - You are damned if you wait, you are damned if you don't, isn't it? Nice little Catch-22 they thought up. Luckily I didn't fall for it.
To answer your barb:
No one can and should hold anyone for an indeterminate time - "checking for intention and commitment".
& anyways - commitment is a two-sided thing. Both sides have to be committed.
I made the decision to make my life stable and secure somewhere more welcoming rather than stay on and keep cribbing like everyone else. To each his own, I am not blaming anyone for anything, staying or leaving.
I was determined to become Singaporean but in the end it was much easier to become Canadian and settle down - yes there are warm smiles and helping hands all around here. And Yes - its much roomier here too.
As I said, you win some, you lose some. We miss all our friends and neighbors. We still keep in touch (thank god for technology) but I know over time, we will be out of sight, out of mind. Its sad but then.... life goes on.... it has to.
Stop envying me and become enviable yourself.

I don't live in SG (any more), and have never sought to be PR there.
Perhaps why I see the attempted gaming the system for what it is, as presumably do ICA.
How's the skiing coming along?
