Hi all,

Sorry for the late reply! Was busy sorting out my working things back home last 2 wks then got the cold from early this wk. Hopefully I'll be fully recovered by end of the weekend :P

Welcome to SG, Sandy! I'll deliver my 2nd bb in Gleneagles on Napier Rd. My obs is Dr Choo Wan Ling from Gleneagles. I quite like my obs as she's very approachable and friendly. I feel very comfy with her although it's my 1st time. Same as Julia as mentioned, it's quite pricy to deliver in SG private if your corp insurance doesn't cover fully. My hubby's corp insurance doesn't cover the delivery cost & only covers for the newborn. We bought a separate insurance last mth but it has waiting period. So it's going to be out of pocket costs for all delivery charges but the good news is that it'll cover all the complications post-delivery. I had an easy & normal delivery for my elder daughter in Sydney. Bought it purely for in case as we're told it's more pricy if having complications here. We expect to pay about $12k including obs costs. My hubby's colleague paid $15k for another private hospital in city. Guessing the costs are more or less the same in SG if you choose to stay with private hospital. The variances are mainly due to the choice of hospital bedroom. They have 4 or 5 different ranges. It's good to arrange a hospital tour once you decide where to live here. Good to find a one nearby so less travelling .

Anyway, love to meet you all later in the mth! By the way, I'll be out of town from 21st to 23rd Mar and 28th Mar to 3rd Apr. Hope no clash for catch up :)

Cheers,

Lucy

Cost wise our delivery was $5,500 ish which was for a single room for 4 days and a c-section, so not quite as bad as we'd expected!

As for meeting up I can do any days in march, ideally I'd rather not haul the baby all the way across the island so how about holland village?
(I think someone else mentioned they are nearby)

If the out of town people let us know when we can totally do something .

Also if you've not already looked there are some groups on meet ups, particularly the 0-18 month group who have a bumps meet up each week.

Hi again,

Lucy & Julia, thanks a lot for your answer and the details about your deliveries! It is very helpful!

I will arrive to Singapore on the 26th March, and will be leaving on the 31st, so looking at Lucy's schedule, maybe we could meet on Thursday 27th?

I will be staying very close to the Bugis MRT station, but can go anywhere that suits you best. So I let the others confirm if Holland Village is good for them.

I will email those who reply within the next two weeks to arrange the details.

Cheers,

Sandy

See you soon!

Sorry gals! I won't be able to catch up at end of Mar, just realised our flight's 27th Mar instead of 28th Mar ...memory's getting bad after pregnancy (luckily hubby reminds me :P).

Sandy, will have to catch up with you in May when you're in town. Holland Village or Orchard side are convenient for me as I don't live near MRT although very close to bus stop. I think there's only 1 bus can take me to Bugis but it's a 40mins ride. By the way, re the costs, I forgot to clarify that 12k including my obs mthly visit plus blood tests for down syndrome. The hospital cost is roughly same as Julia's one for a single room except Gleneagles only allows for 2 nights stay for normal delivery or 3 nights for C section. The extra night would charge on top of package cost. Assuming you've done all the tests in your country already since you're wk 19, so the obs cost would be cheap. Last wk, I paid $800 for obs visit from wk 16 onwards till delivery excluding additional 3D ultrasound or blood sugar test if required. They only offer this package till turned wk16 which's slightly different from Sydney private hospital as they have package for you to purchase on discounted rate after 1st visit. Not sure about others Obs, you will have to check with them when you decide to see one as they may practice differently.

Julia, let me know if you want to catch up beforehand. Otherwise will see you all in Apr/May. Take care!

So is everyone else still free to meet up end of march?

Bugis is good for me to get too.

Meeting this Thursday afternoon at Bugis or Holland Village

Post by Sandily » Tue, 25 Mar 2014 2:27 am

Hello ladies,

@Lucy,
it is a pity you won't be able to join us this time, but I am sure we will have a chance to meet later on.

@Julia, Pantschick, all the others...
I am still OK to meet at either Bugis or Holland Village on Thursday afternoon, though I can be there around 4:00pm (I will visit the Mount Alvernia Hospital from 2:30 to 3:30 :-) )

If you are interested please PM me or send me your email to agree on the details.

Cheers,

Sandy
