Big 4 in Singapore

Post by Liam555 » Mon, 23 Dec 2013 7:35 pm

Hi All,

I am moving to Singapore on December 30 to commence an intra-company secondment at a Big 4 firm. I have heard from my Partner here in Australia that the working culture there is quite different, particularly in relation to hours.

Here, we work approx 50 hours per week which is quite high relative to most firms. However, I have been told to expect much worse in Singapore.

Does anybody have any pointers they think might be useful for somebody in my situation?

Thanks in advance!!

Liam

Are you doing audit at the Big 4 or the other Depts?

If you avoid tea breaks, avoid distracting your focus with random rubbish on the net and choose to eat your lunch in the office, you should be able to work a 50 hours week in Singapore. Your peak is possibly in Jan (to support the audit), April (personal income tax) and November (corporate income tax).

It also depends on your portfolio of coz - couple of the Audit Firms that make do with low balling fees for volume end up with Seniors and Manager with an overloaded port.
