Hi All,
My company is going to offer me a role in Singapore, i have been at my present company for 6 years. I work as a software engineer in the Telecoms industry whereby i have approx 10 years experience. I will be on about 120, 000 SGD per year.
However I only have GCSE and A BTEC national diploma but no degree.
What are the chances of getting an employment pass?
Thanks

Getting an employment pass without a degree
HI
I am not in the same kind of industry as you but also have no degree.
Although it is hard to get the EP, it is not impossible. You have to be ready to fight for it though. I have had the same case recently for my new EP, luckily the company was ready to fight for me. We had to appeal twice before getting the EP approved.
What is important is obviously salary and qualifications, however it is also important that the company justifies to the gov why you and not a local. They have to make a case for it. In my case, working for expat oriented company, they built the case around my european origin, language skills and cultural understanding of target clients which a local would not have. We still had to appeal twice as no degree and salary just above minimum.
Gov will never give you reasons, however was told that your 1st application gets treated by officers who have a check-list of criteria and should you not meet some of the criteria, then it gets rejected no matter what. 1st appeal is treated at same level of authority and it's only on 2nd appeal that it goes to higher ranking officer who can override the check-list and look at the case built by your company.
Hope this helps in a way and gives you hope, if you realy want to be here, there is a way! Just keep trying!

It is $2,500 per month minimum for EP Q type or $1,800 for a S Pass.
