On the receiving end of a racist Tirade...

Post by Barnsley » Tue, 19 Nov 2013 7:54 pm

Just been on the end of a racist tirade by an old guy in Cold Storage. To say I am shocked and upset is an understatement.
At the ham counter waiting to be served when a lady pushed in front and tried to order. I pointed out there was a queue.... then out of nowhere an old guy lays into me caucasian this , caucasian that.... think you own the world... a few rounds of Singapore for Singaporeans with some more caucasian this and white that... right in my face.
I am.still in shock now...
I told him to stop.being racist but i dont think it helped.... He wasnt even there when the queue formed... It completely scrambled my mind as it was from absolute nowhere.
Why the lady didnt just say sorry and let me order instead of standing there it wouldnt have come to it.
Then piece de resistance when another local lady who was after me got served the old guy didnt say a thing.
Proper proper Bullshit....

very sad and very disappointed.

Wow. Sorry to hear this. Frankly, it was a matter of time... before people let the racist stuff out not just online, but also offline in people's faces.

Sorry to hear. But I am rather surprised. Singaporeans are usually not that open with regards to racist remarks. They could make comments loudly to their friends knowing that you can hear them. But they dont have the guts to tell it on your face. I am sure this old man has some mental problem.

This guy was well dresses... spoke very good English and was very clear in what he wanted to say. No mental health problems at.... do not fall into the comfort zone that this kind of thing only comes from nutters.

Once this kind of crap starts and nothing is done to stop the spread it can only end one way and thats badly.

I'd have been tempted to tell him to go shop at NTUC as it was designed to cater to locals like himself and he would probably feel more superior there.

Weird to read this. Since the antiforeign sentiments became rather obvious I was kind of expecting something like this could happened to me as I am too a person who reacts. Also I though it would happen in a place like Cold Storage. Hmm.

Stop whining, whitey.

I'm sorry, that anyone could be so rude is just shocking. By all means have your opinions but to air something like that so publicly and aggressively is horrid. You ok, pet?

One thing to add, though I do not generally quote the Bible... but after all, it is a book with a collection of wisdom of men over a long period of time (at least, my interpretation of it ;) )

Couple of weeks back while traveling in the MRT I was engrossed in a conversation with my friend and did not notice a young lady ( local ) who was about to alight at the next stop. She had to take a detour as I was blocking her way. Realizing my mistake I apologized to her only to get this response "Stop ! You have no right to say sorry".
I was a little disappointed as most locals that I have encountered either graciously accept the apologies or are neutral about it. I did not pursue this further as it was my mistake and I probably have no rights after all.

Still a bit shocked.... seems all a bit surreal still. An old guy in your face hurling the racial abuse... just not what you expect.
I guess my intolerance of queue jumping has finally bitten me.
I will regale all again on Friday night after a couple of shandys.

This doesn't even make sense. People here are so stupid.

I'd say just plain rotten to the core. Grounds of stupidity can be easily dismissed by them using anecdotal PSLE results and TIMES ranking of their precious NUS, NTU and SMU.

Sad to hear this. There are some narrow minded people around here. Not just on the Singaporean side but from Caucasian side as well. I would have laid into this dude no end and probably to no avail. Small narrow minds, sadly.

I just know my time in Singapore has a chance of coming to and end when I kick one of these mothers in the balls.
