I haven't used SH for Internet at all, but there's no way cable competes with the capacity of fiber. I say capacity because that's what bandwidth really is. SH is just blowing smoke up your backside to keep you paying them.BZsofia wrote:Hello, does anyone have switched from Starhub broadband to fibre? They (Starhub) are trying to talk me out of using fibre, but the speed and the service they provide is pathetic. My router's wifi does not work, so their soultion was that I should use cable - replacement on my own cost only. The device is here for 2 weeks only. I really want to switch, but they alwasy say that fibre (and epecially MyRepublic) will be slower than their broadband.
I would appreciate your advices a lot. I should be able to access my company's servers in Europe, and I literally cannot work now.

M1 is shit, the same as Singtel or Starhub. As I normally advise, if you're technical enough to understand the differences between the routers and 1gb/s vs 100mb/s (actually know how/if it will help, not just that the number is 10 times bigger) then go with MR or VQ.UrbanNomad wrote:Looking at a new connection... from what i read so far MR seems to be the way to go, but last evening as i was making enquiries at the stores, saw an offering from M1 that seemed to cost lesser initial set up costs as well better discounts on new routers etc. I'd say a saving of approx $150 overall. Monthly charges for the 1gbps plan remain the same: $50
Any feedback on M1 vs MR?
Don't worry, it happens to us all. I got stuck with two years of Singtel MIO when I first moved hererajagainstthemachine wrote:I really wish I can gone with myrepublic or viewquest, but I had already signed up on a 2 year contract with M1 so no choice but to run that down.
Is starhub better off for TV then?zzm9980 wrote: Don't worry, it happens to us all. I got stuck with two years of Singtel MIO when I first moved here
They're equally crappy quality last I checked (about a year or so ago), just different content. Singtel has more non-EPL sports. Starhub had more movies/non sports content. However Starhub is also analog, which meant that the chinese subtitles were hard-coded into most shows and you couldn't turn them off. (was? maybe this is changed)UrbanNomad wrote:Is starhub better off for TV then?zzm9980 wrote: Don't worry, it happens to us all. I got stuck with two years of Singtel MIO when I first moved here
