Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy imo.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/n ... scientists
Suha Arafat said the evidence in the report suggested that her then healthy 75-year-old husband, who died in 2004 four weeks after he first fell ill following a meal, was almost certainly murdered by poisoning. She told al-Jazeera: "This is the crime of the century."
Surely it is! And f-ck all for all of the victims for who he had blood on his hands.
I do feel sorrow for the victims of the inevitable senseless violence this report will unleash in the middle east.

It's more complicated than that.
After wikipedia:
Abnormally high concentrations of 210Po have been detected in July 2012 in clothes and personal belongings of the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, who died on 11 November 2004 of uncertain causes. However, the spokesman for the Institut de Radiophysique in Lausanne, Switzerland, where those items were analyzed, stressed that the "clinical symptoms described in Arafat's medical reports were not consistent with polonium-210 and that conclusions could not be drawn as to whether the Palestinian leader was poisoned or not", and that "the only way to confirm the findings would be to exhume Arafat's body to test it for polonium-210."[89] On 27 November 2012 Arafat's body was exhumed and samples were taken for separate analysis by experts from France, Switzerland and Russia.[90] On 12 October 2013, The Lancet published a peer-review of the group's finding that high levels of the element were found in Arafat's blood, urine, and in saliva stains on his clothes and toothbrush.[91] This is compared with the report from 15 October 2013 that the head of the Russian forensic laboratory investigating samples from the body of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat had found no traces of radioactive polonium.[92]

For Squirrel's joke... The answer may be: "'E', the Russians contracted out by all of the above"

It's delightful that the Russians actually bothered to let the world know. There might be a pocket of suckers tottering around on a turnip truck ready to pounce on the announcement.

It is probably too late for the Arafat case but the case of Litvinenko makes a very interesting reading in some points:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_ ... Litvinenko
Apparently nobody, including the KGB expected how easily Polonium could be traced. The whole chain of events put together just from what Litvinenko secreted with his sweat and his perpetrators carried out on their hands/cloths.

I always thought Hamas killed him, but I guess it could have been any-one.

Actually if you read x92's link, it sounds like the 210Po will be quite easy to trace and figure out where it came from. I'm guessing most of the residual 210Po will be long gone though.

Aside from anything else, I just remember an old Johnny Carson joke which went something like:
What is the sound that is made when Dolly Parton takes off her bra?
Yasser Arafat!
