good hair extension

Post by short hair » Tue, 04 Jan 2005 12:39 pm

I'm interested in hair extension for a little glamour look. Heard of Jean Yip that does it and cost about $500-$600 for full lock. Shunji prob about $1000. I do not know what sort of 'real hair' they uses and any sort of disadvantages.
Anyone who has done it at reasonable rate and any good hairdresser to go to?
I read in the net that Adrian of Dreamweaver (Dallas, Texas) has many satisfied clients and good reviews about his work.
I hope to find someone like him.
tks.
:D

hair extension

hi,

i have used hair extension at jean yip before, they count by price per strip of hair, they used fake hair strip by strip to tie to your hair root and use a small metal piece to secure and tighten it.
i spent up to $300 minimum (more if you want to add more strips to give it a more natural look) and even more expensive cos they will surely recommend you to use their hair pdts for protection and maintenance of hair..
and not easy to wash cos you have to be very careful if not the strips might drop..sometimes when i go outside and i just slightly comb my hair and there the strip drops!! so embarrassing if outside and pple see this..
and you have to make sure the colour of the fake hair and your hair matches so that it wont look so fake
so much care involved that i decided to cut all instead of taking it out.
cos when i washed my hair, the strips got all tangled up and i really hve a hard time with it.
so i pulled all the strips out with all my force..bit silly come to think of it..
and went to kimage to cut my hair..
so natural hair is still better..

thanks Veron for the advice.
I actually had some bad experience with hairdo at the "salon you went 4 the extension" where they are only interested in making more $ out of their produts. The hairdresser I had only insists on having my hair cut to what she thinks it's nice on me and not what I wanted.
When I wanted it long she cut it short for me saying that looks better on me. That's absurd thinking back about it. Paying them for something I didn't wanted in the 1st place.
She also presses onto buying pkgs from them which Kimage doesn't do that.
That's when now Kimage has became the salon I trusted with more professionals handling my hair. I didn't mind paying a little more.
Now I've got back silky rebonded shoulder length..
after 'that salon' kept on cutting my hair short and made my hair damaged with all the straightening done there :x
It's only because I wanted to try out the extension that I know Jean yip is doing it.
Sounds like the job was not that good though the price looked ok.
I do read about the good stylists who does it and the hair stays there looking good and doesn't tangle up that much as long you take care of it the right way. Synthetic hair (prob the fake ones you were saying) should not be used. Else will look like having them on for years getting frizzy and untidy. Real hair is good.
And of course they won't drop off that easy when done it properly. I have seen the pics done in US and it's absolutely pretty.

Anyway great thanks for the advice! I also think that I should keep back my hair now that it does sound fussy to me.
Although I still miss having long tresses.

I aslo want longer hair!

I also have bad experiense from the saloon you are talking about. I am blond and I wanted some simple highlights... Well, they turned out grean, and the lady told me that was the new fashion from London called Ashblonde... Well I have had ash blonde for the past 10 years and it is not grean... Anyway I went back a couple of days later and told them to redo it.. And so they did, turned out ok, but not good and certenly not good for my hair. And they wanted me to pay!!! I got really upset and just walked away, and I will never go there again!

Anyway I called Toni & Guy on Orchard Rd and they will start next month with hair extentions! I will go over there and have a talk and I will get back to you soon!

check out some hair extension services

Post by roxyyy » Sun, 29 May 2005 7:48 pm

i've checked out some hair extension services provided in Jean Yip and REDS. both of their rates are about the same. but the contradicting thing is that Jean Yip told me it will take roughly 80-100 strends for full head extension but REDS told me it will take roughly 50. The difference is so big that it keeps me wondering which is more professional. I'll be calling up Toni & Guy to ask their price.

Meanwhile if anybody have any suggestions on which salon provides good extension, please help me by telling me. Share your past experiences in the salon will be good too. Thanks so much!!!!

Tried hair extension last month at a salon at Square 2 just above the Novena MRT. They kind of specialise in hair extension services and were having a promotion for $390. They have both the ring type as well as the wax bonding type. The salon name is Creme Hairdressing located at the 1st floor.

Alright moderator,

I'll do that. Just go to City plaza level 2, shop name: de perfect beauty.#0-37 All sort of hair texture n type, from straight to permed to wavy. I suggest after doing the hair extension, always have it trimmed after.
I also do it for the clients at their place, more cosy n private.
regards,

gia

Hi, I saw the promo too!
and I'm considering whether to go for it!
Was the effect good?
I've heard it can be slightly uncomfortable having
hair extensions, is it true?
And can I choose the colour, texture (for e.g. permed) of the hair?
How long does the whole process take?

Thanks! :)
