Fantastic article! Obviously a lot of time and research went into that.

If it is helpful, the pension numbers for Tokyo are slightly wrong. The amount is 14,980 per month, OR you go into a split situation with your employer paying half of 17%.

I think most solopreneurs would be paying the flat Y14,890 per month, with the understanding that their final pension amount would be much smaller than if they were on the employer supported scheme.

ComingSoon, you're absolutely right re: Japanese pensions, updated post now live. The exact pension numbers aren't hugely consequential though, since they're considered "income" for all totals.
