travel buddy for Sri Lanka over Chinese New Year week

Post by smurfzzz » Tue, 29 Oct 2013 2:21 pm

Will be planning a 2 weeks trip for Sri Lanka over the week of Chinese New Year 2014.

No fixed itineary yet but diving is a mandatory for me.

Other than that, will probably do whale watching, surfing/kite surfing, wild safari, simple hiking, water rafting/kayaking... etc.

Anyone interested?

I'm a 30/f, welcome all ages and genders.

Stay at the classic, if pricey, Galle Face hotel one night. IT's older than Raffles hotel!

I have not decide any itinerary yet, other than going Galle, Colombo and Hikkaduwa and more to come....

Maybe someone can recommend a itinerary based on the activities on my bucket list?

Colombo nothing much. You can do sky diving there.

Galle, Mirissa, Unawatuna for all the sports activites and thrills you are seeking.

Colombo - sky diving
Unawatuna and Mirissa - surfing, diving, beach, etc.
Mirissa - whale watching
Yala - safari park
Galle - shopping

sky diving in colombo is not all that popular, in fact being a sri lankan I 've never heard of it before. you could try ballooning.
try your shopping in colombo, not sure what Galle has extra to offer.
If you like nature you could also try "worlds end , Horton plains" or even the little adams peak around in Ella.
Trincomalee in the east also has nice beaches if you don't mind traveling the distance.Else Unatawatuna/Hikkaduwa are the more popular ones.
Yala is the main national park to go to for safari, there's another called Wilpattu which was opened to tourists relatively recently. Yala is much better if you are a tourist and want the ease of getting a guide etc. Either place you visit make sure you enter the park early in morning as soon as it opens its gates to have a good chance of spotting the leopards.
