Starhub residuals

Post by Ladams215 » Mon, 14 Oct 2013 12:26 am

Hi all,

Was looking through the site and it has made me slightly worried! I left SG back in April and settled all debts I owed as I'm cautious like that. From reading on here I understand there is a chance that I may owe Starhub a few dollars for any amount that wasn't covered when I paid my final bill. (I paid the monthly fixed cost x the number of months outstanding . Circa 1200 dollars) obviously I want to keep my good credit history so I wondered if there is anyway I can check this? I don't know my FIN / ID as I handed that in when I left and didn't keep a record. I've also written to the Credit Bureau. Advise is welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

I doubt anything will happen. If they have your forwarding address you'll get a letter/bill eventually.

problem 1: how did you make the payment to Starhub ? if over the counter, they would have told you the actual balance

problem 2; You forgot your FIN ?? Seriously ? I didn't forget my FIN from 16 plus years ago .. how did you do that ?

good news: so far, for those holding EP, Credit Bureau doesn't track credit history .. so .. unless the Govt changes the credit history policy, don't bother much ;)

I still remember my military service number and that was nearly half a century ago! :)

But I have a hard time remembering my home fixed line phone number! :o

E-mail them and ask. Your name and previous address should be sufficient for them to id you. Or the bank account # previous payments were drawn from.

I think you're right to resolve this. You don't want outstanding debts, and hence absentee court judgements against you, if you ever wish to return to Singapore one day...

Thanks for your advice.

I understand Starhub may sell the debt to a collection agency? Is this likely given small value? Also, my understanding is that it will then appear on a credit check?

the way you sound paranoid, it looks like you left more than few dollars .. or did i miss something ?

if you left behind like 20$ or so .. nothing will happen

if you left behind something like more than 100 $, then Starhub may engage a debt collector, who will add his fee and reminder etc, and it can bloat to a thousand $ or more .. then hit panic stations. .

and your claim will be through Small Claims court, if they decide to pursue

Now, did you read the part that EP holder per-se have no credit history ? or you know something I don't know and you don't want to tell me ??

Panic over - managed to spk to Starhub and paid 40 dollars outstanding. Thanks for your comments - I did read the point about EP holders not having a credit history but I wasn't sure how that was possible?

Well done. In 3 years time, when you are offered an absolute bang-up transfer, bells and whistles, back here; you're going to be relieved that you were conscientious enough to do that :)

Leaving a place without settling your debts, is like emptying a bucket of s*** on your back door-step. At some future point you're likely to end up back in it, and on your arse.

+, like JR8 told ..

Well, so far, Credit Bureau tracks by IC No, so SC/PR are screwed if they default anywhere ..

The system hasn't catered for EP/FIN #, or those who get a Card while on EP and switch to PR / SC .. or so I think ..
