China Phones

Post by EmilyStrangeRox » Tue, 24 Sep 2013 2:43 am

Anyone here using China branded phones?

I'm currently looking for something that is cheap yet packs a bunch of features.

I know that there are lots of fake iPhone5 made in China that is both cheap and have a lot of features, but the news always say that the battery will explode, which makes me scared to buy those kind of China phones.

Are there any good china branded phones? I only know there is Huawei, JiaYu and Zopo. Are there anymore?

Lenovo, Xiaomi, and Meizu are three of the "good" ones I know of.

The first one is a huge company that also makes top-notch laptops. They're not officially sold in Singapore, but most of our neighboring countries have them.

The second is a really popular and trendy brand right now who uses their own heavily customized Android environment (MIUI) on inexpensive hardware with great specs. Think comparable to Samsung S4 for half the price. They're trying (and succeeding right now) to out-Apple Apple in China. They're rather hard to get though as they are only sold officially through their website and constantly sell out in minutes. You can find them forsale on hardwarezone occasionally, but the markup negates the 'cheap' advantage they're supposed to have.

Meizu I believe also uses MIUI, but I know less about them.

Buy an export set of Samsung, Sony, HTC etc from shops in Serangoon road. You get a good discount and they are genuine sets, but they didnt come through the official channels into Singapore and hence no warranty.

These days at the Singapore electronics expo's, atleast in the last 2-3 expos, they have been selling these cheap china android phones that specwise are top notch almost resembling Galaxy S3/S4. Various brands but all of them have the wording "Android" behind the phone. I think they cost around $130 or around that.
