Law pertaining to PR

Post by ult » Wed, 18 Sep 2013 11:00 am

I'm trying to find information pertaining to permanent residency in Singapore but can't find much on the Internet. The only one I found is http://www.ica.gov.sg/page.aspx?pageid=151 which simply gave criteria and such.

Is there anywhere where I can find more information? Such as what PR is entitled to, requirement for renewal of PR status, restrictions of being a PR, etc... etc... all the fine detail stuff.

Would appreciate if anyone can direct me to a gov link where I can get them.

Thanks!!

There used to be a graph/document that you could download, but it's been taken down sometime in the past 12 months or so. I guess it's because it's being changed so rapidly with more and more of our meager benefits being cut even further. I had posted it here once before but the link is no longer valid and the last time I tried to locate it, I had no success.

The following links has information that was valid up till 2009 but has gotten progressively worse since 2011. I cannot find a later compilation but by going to the individual ministries involved you can find the lastest cuts to your benefits. At least this gives you a place to start....

Encounter a bump overseas right now regarding citizenship application because of the PR status so trying to find something that may be useful with the appeal.

You cannot get citizenship in Singapore unless you have been a PR or are an extremely high flyer and then the government would be courting you instead of you being on a forum looking for information. You need to be a PR for around 6 years before you can become a citizen. In any case, here is a more current data sheet of the differences between benefits of citizens and PRs and non- PRs that is accurate as at July, 2012.....

If you really want to get facts and laws regarding Immigration / PR and entitlements you can read up the Singapore Statues Online provided by the Singapore Attorney General's Chambers.

It has details of each and every law passed in Singapore.
