Why not just save one of the husks/shells? Gargle with water using one of those as a bowl. Must be some chemical in the husk that counteracts the smell (didn't bother researching it).
Most of the time, my aunt & uncle prefer the box version rather than the original version. And yes. Most elders taught me to gargle with water, or salt water, with one of the husks.

On the topic of soft drinks, does anyone know where to buy Solo Original Lemon in Singapore? It's so good I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms already.

Yep sure do. It was great when we found it. Marketplace have it here in Katong. Also OhDeli in East Coast Road also has it.
