TONIGHT: "What the hell's F1?" Drinks

Post by SGslinger » Mon, 16 Sep 2013 3:27 pm

*Sorry... removed the movie from the list below. I hadn't figured out the logistics of a movie outing below... and I think it's going to be a bit hard for me to pull off. But the drinks still stand. Apologies if you had any last minute plans to join.*

"What the hell is F1?" Drinks
What While much of Singapore goes bonkers over a car race, we'll drink instead. We can also discuss what exactly this F1 thing is, including what you can eat F1 with, the melting point of F1 and other inane things.
Where Buyan Russian Restaurant & Bar on Duxton Hill. Splendid selection of whiskeys, gins and [duh!] vodkas. We'll take a long table outside, so it's easy to find us.
Address? 10 Duxton Hill (+65 6223 7008). I get there from Outram Park MRT, but you can also get there from Chinatown. Or Tanjong Pagar.
When? 9PM on Saturday, Sept. 21. We can ask the bar to play The Killers, just in case you're in the F1 mood.
How do I join? 1) Declare your interest here. 2) Send me a text at 8152 7329. 3) Just show up.
But I'd like to get some dinner first! OK lah, can. If there are enough people who'd like get dinner before, we can go to Cumi Bali on Tanjong Pagar Road. Great Indonesian food. But only if we have a bit of a group together.

So, who's in?

Already got to go with another group for World's End, but I think I'm game for the F1 drinks, depending if I am not too tired after the full day parkour workshop...but I want the Cumi Bali most, actually :p.

Yep, let's go for it. There's been a fairly thin response so far: You, Jaya, me and a couple of my friends (maybe Stevie_W). Not that I'm complaining though; sometimes you can have a lot more fun with a smaller group than you can have with a bigger one.

Let's meet at Cumi Bali at 8PM then? Do we need to book?

Mmmmmmmm Indonesian chicken satay!

And for any others who want to join... Honestly, we don't bite. If you've expressed a desire elsewhere in the forum that you would like to join a meetup, well, what are you waiting for?

Lauren: Absolutely. We always welcome more people.

Also just FYI for everybody, I have a discount card that gets a 15% or 30% (I forget which) discount on drinks at Buyan. Potentially your $14 drink could cost less than $10. A steep drop for Singapore, you'll agree.

So let's meet at Cumi Bali restaurant at 8PM, with Akimbo joining us later. Jaya already knows what I look like, but Lauren: you can call me at 8152 7329 when you get there and you'll be able to find me.

The restaurant is at 66 Tanjong Pagar Road, close to the crossing of Tanjong Pagar and Duxton. Best to Google-Map it.

See you all soon.

SD, all,

Would have loved to join you, but I'm going for the real thing. Which puts me in the 'bonkers over car' category in your book.

Try to have a fun time, old man. I'm sure that if you try very, very hard, you'll be able to have at least a little bit of fun at the Formula One.
