Who applies for LTVP for my partner

Post by CaroMass » Fri, 13 Sep 2013 10:04 pm

Okay background: I am UK female on a P2 EP earning over $6000 p/mth and my partner does contract work overseas so will be in and out of the country and not work within Singapore. I've been together for just over 2 years and have lived together for over 1 year. (We've got all documentation to prove this including a statutory of declaration for our common-law partnership)

LTVP would be the route to take so my question is this, I can apply for his LTVP on line (quicker than manually) but who applies for it my sponsoring company or me as his 'sponsor'? Cos the actual form for manual application says I need my sponsoring company to stamp and approve it.

Feedback would be much appreciated. :)

The LTVP Application has to be sponsored by your employer (company). If you see the form carefully you can see the section containing the details like Name & Address of Company and Official Stamp of Company / Firm. Also it says "Local sponsor must be the same as that of Work Pass application" - which refers to your employer

Thanks. Can you tell me what implications this has on my company? I want to cover all costs etc and am slightly nervous about asking them so I want to ensure that it's not too much of a hassle.

Some companies won't sponsor, and there is a way to then self-sponsor if you supply a (I believe) $5000sgd bond. You should call MOM and ask. I can't find where on MOM's site it speaks to this, but this is what I was told by HR at my last company.

Your best bet is just to go talk to HR about it and see how your company handles it.
