Oh SMS, you're not implying a White Brit wouldn't date a subcontinental Canadian now, are you? :p

I'm going to bet he's white anyway, but I'm pretty smart and may have alternative sources of intel.
Really uncalled for racial references have been deleted. PNGMK, stop with this stuff, or you are out the door again.

I concur with Saint.
Can't we have a decent discussion minus the unwarranted remarks.
Some posters here really need to go for some kind of therapy or keyboard control management.

Mods : both saint and I are long time posters and we do provide decent amount of inputs minus the agros. We seek your kind attention or I will be the first to be out of here

To Saint and MS - I have deleted the offensive post by PNGMK.

PNKMK - this is at least the third complaint from other posters, and the third time I have had to call you to task for inappropriate posts.

I don't know why you are doing this, and, it must stop. Last warning.

Huh? I didn't think my post was that inflammatory? I can't even remember what it was. Warning noted.

To satisfy your curiosity, he is white. And my relationship history has included many different colours and ethnicities!

abbym, it's not so much to satisfy anybody's curiosity, but more to see if the ICA response could be based on ethnicity. We know there is a pogrom against certain ethnic groups, and it does seem to be tapering off a little bit, but two years ago, it was palpable and very tense due to the undue attention given to three certain groups of peoples (two nationalities and one ethnic group). It's still there in some respects and we are trying to figure out (and collecting data) if there may have been a trend there.

You know the saying regarding data. Garbage in, garbage out. With enough data we can give a better reading/opinion. Nothing more. In fact you will find this forum is a mixed bag of everybody already but we are all striving to give back to our community.

NB: you will also find a large percentage of us are also in mixed race marriages and/or mixed nationality marriages (or both)! ;-)

Yes, I was asking because of this. If for example he was an Indian or Arab who recently moved to Canada, ICA may ignore the Canadian passport and categorize him into the visa policies they apply to his home country.

abbym, do keep us updated if all goes well when you return from Bali.

Just to add to the work pass stuff: if somebody is from a visa-on-arrival country, and comes here only for a short time (30, maybe up to 60 days) to complete some work for his company, who is employing him/her in another country - that would not be an issue normally, as it is too difficult to control anyways.

The problems start if the immigration officer is suspecting that you are here to work, since apart from family or gf/bf there is generally not much reason to stay here for that long if only visiting. Now, you may be fine here, after all, Western people do get some more leeway in those matters. If you get away with now though, just don't try to repeat it too often ;)

btw, I think there is some ICA rule, if the visa exceeds 90 days, it is considered long term or something ..

and that's why, for any extension beyond 90 days require spouse to produce marriage certificate (if the applicant is a spouse of SPR/SC)

Congrats. The 30 day to a (white?) Canadian does seem weird. Part of the commonwealth and all that.

err .. it is NOT wierd, from what I read up on Canadian visa .. over the weekend ..

Canadians are issued 30 day on arrival, in Singapore.

Full reciprocity not achieved for Canadian passport holders; Singaporean citizens can enter Canada visa-free for 6 months

Can you find something that says otherwise ??

So all that Hoo-Ha about race was for nothing
The first thing somebody should have done was to find out the exact visa entitlement for Canadians, before bringing something like "Race" into it. I tried finding it but didnt spend too much time on it.
