Condo recommendation!!!

Post by Fishnest » Tue, 03 Sep 2013 1:33 pm

Hi all,

I will be relocated in Singapore November this yeay so I am looking for
the right place to live in. I am single so basically I am looking for the condo that would be used only by me. (2 beds preferable - one room would be the guest/dress room.)

My office is located in Pasir Panjang Dr (D05) and my budget for linving is around 5500$ per month.

As my office is located somewhat west side of city, I do not think I can get a room in D15 (east coast) or center of the city.

So my research(?) with this site and others narrowed down below candidates for living

a. (D05) Ascentia Sky or Metropolitan in Alexandra street.

b. (D05) Rochester or Dover Parkview

c. (D04) Refelection or Caribbean at keppel bay

my question would be

1. How is it living in Ascentia Sky and Metropolitan? Any drawbacks?

2. Do you have other suggestions considering my office location and the budget? (I can accept ~8km radius from my office. Ascentia is like 4-5km)

Any other comments/feedbacks are welcome.

Thanks

I don't know the area well, however, when I first came over I was in a serviced condo in Dover Parkview and it is very nice.

A good place to look for transport options from place to place is gothere.sg it's a good webpage, between that and street directory you will be able to find where makes most sense for commuting.

cheers

I live at Reflections and love it. We have a 2+1 around 1000 sqf, The condo is the best I have seen in Singapore. Just by the Marina and Ocean and Labrador Park. Great if you are active and run, bicycle or just like to walk. Shuttle bus from the basement of the condo to Telok Blangah MRT and opposite the MRT, there's a walk way to busses that takes you to the CBD,

Do you need to sort accommodation out before you get here? If not, you are welcome to PM me and arrange to come and have a look. I'll be happy to show you around.

Edit: Carribean is a couple of years older but also very nice. I still prefer Reflections though.

1. Ascentia Sky is not ready yet by the time you arrive (TOP is only early next year) and I don't know if there is any direct bus route to your work.

2. Don't know about The Metropolitan. Never been inside before. But location is around where Ascentia Sky would be.

3. I would highly recommend Rochester if you're not restricted by other factors. Good location (close to Rochester Park for wine and dine, Ghim Moh area for local fare, and Holland Village for beer), closer to Circle Line or bus stops heading to Pasir Panjang compared to Dover Parkview, and it is new. Dover Parkview is slightly older but it is doable if you intend to take Circle Line to Pasir Panjang.

4. Reflection and Carribean will be convenient because both are just down the road from Pasir Panjang area. These two condos are next to each other and I have seen the insides of the Reflection. It is new and nice but if you choose the wrong block and do not own a car, walking all the way out to the main road to get a bus in Singapore's hot and humid weather is a chore!

5. When you said your budget of living is around SGD5500 per month, did you mean that it is for your rental or just general living expenses? Reflection is very pricey, Rochester would come next with Ascentia Sky. I would imagine The Metropolitan and Dover Parkview would be the cheapest options (based on how old these two are) but I haven't looked at the rental rates for a long time.

I really appreciate your swift esponses. This helps me a lot.

@nutnut
Gothere.sg is great site to look at. never knew this sits exist.
And good to know that you are enjoying staying in dover parkview

@Fortan
Thanks for your sharing experience in Refelections. I think this condo
could make my living environment as green as I am in village.
Refelection could be my place as I am not a party person.
:) I appreciate your kind offer for guide but I have my company agent
who will show me all the places.

@Lynx
I didnt know that Ascentia Sky will be comming nexy year. Wow
my first option was serious mistake. Really thanks for notification.
I have again checked that Rochester place, yes I will definitely check the
place. But I also noticed that my budget is slightly short for this place.
(2 bedrooms)
And I will buy a car and 5500$ is only for rent.

I will expect more comments to come~

I can assure you that $5500 per month for rent is sufficient in general. Even 2-bedroom in Reflections is about that amount IIRC. And if you do choose Reflections and you are not a party person you said you are, ask your agent to suggest the units far away from BBQ pits and clubhouse. These areas are very very noisy on Saturday and Sunday mornings and evenings with all those parties!
