Baby Safety gates for stairs

Post by LittleWing » Wed, 28 Aug 2013 5:49 pm

Hi all, in need to purchase 6 baby gates for tops & bottoms of stairs in our new semi-detached.
Any recommendations of where to purchase safety gates suitable for stairs?

Also, while searching for a rental I noticed lots of places for rent had custom made wooden gates, would anyone know of where I'd be able to purchase these?

Thanks in advance

Babies R Us and Toys R Us sell them. However, you might want to call before heading over there to be sure they're in stock. You could also check Craigslist Singapore click on the "baby & kids" icon or use Amazon.com, which now ships certain items here.

Thanks for that, saw my new home in person today & standard store bought gates will not be secure... I'll definitely need custom built & fitted wood ones..

Anyone point me in the right direction?
A carpenter perhaps???

We used ones from Ikea (the $89 model) and found them very secure.

Hi Oaktree
we ending up sourcing a carpenter through our agent. When he came to look at the job he said, very honestly, he could do it but it would be very expensive.
he suggested buying ready made gates (we went with some from ikea) and he would add in extra pieces of wood to complete the 'side' for the gate to attach to.

All in all, he didnt do too bad a job. A couple of the post slip out when the gate is opened and it does take some jiggling when locking into place but once locked in they are very secure. The only reason 2 out of 6 gates slip is that they are above marble floors and he couldnt fastened the posts at the base without damaging the floors.

if youd like to see photos let me know and i'll pm you some. If you'd like his number, I'll chase it up with my husband too.

thanks
