AVA response slow?

Post by Tanuki » Sat, 24 Aug 2013 12:56 pm

We're moving to SIN in about a week, and I'm experiencing difficulty in getting the AVA office to respond to applications for pet imports. Is this normal? I finally got someone on the line who said she'd track it down, but then she never got back to me later. We have everything else lined up at the moment except that. Does anyone have a thought about how to get them moving?

Cheers

David

No they are usually very quick. However, if there is some sort of difficulty with your application - eg prohibited breed etc - you should probably interpret their silence as a 'no' to your request.
What are you needing to do with them? Can I help - I have imported 3 dogs.

I checked the status and it says they don't see a quarantine reservation, even though that number was in the application. So I went to their FAQ and submitted a note to have them check into it, and I put in my app #, the quarantine res number and all. It's for a Pomeranian and a basic domestic cat, so nothing dangerous. So I just need them to approve this phase so I can go into eCLIPS and pay the licensing fees. Seems like it should be simple...

Thanks katbh!

Where are you coming from? My dogs came from Australia so there is no quarantine. Are your animals coming from asia?

Yup, they are totally in line with all the requirements. We did this in 2007 to go to Tokyo and it's a very similar process. And I sent them the appropriate documents. So it's just very odd that we don't hear back...

So I assume you are just waiting on your confirmation of your booking for quarantine. Often people here will not get back to you if all is in order. However, I would suggest keep calling them and each time ask to speak to a manager. There would be nothing worse than you pets being stuck at airport. Beacuse, if it is still the same, and I assume you are not using a pet agent, you need to go into the freight terminal, collect your animals, then go over to the AVA office in the freight terminal and get clearance before you can get out of the customs area of the freight terminal. So you do not want them sitting in the heat of the terminal - they left one of my dogs in her kennel in the sun.

Yikes these guys are used to the cooler weather in Seattle and wouldn't be ready at all for sitting in the sun in the kennel!

Anyhow, I'll start calling Monday morning SIN time and ask for a manager to get this resolved. Thanks!!

Good thought for the future. We're already booked on EVA as it was the fastest route from Seattle.

Cheers
