Is the Angry Board dead?

Post by sundaymorningstaple » Wed, 21 Aug 2013 8:20 pm

Looks like it went for an upgrade or something and it died. It's been dead for a while now, but not sure for how long. Hope all the trolls done try to migrate over here, as they'll be in for a rude awakening.

If it is, it couldn't have happened to a better forum!

Interesting. I haven't looked at that site for a long time but it does look to be dead in the water. I stopped posting on there many years ago after being accused by an admin of being an 'agitator', merely because I dared to question why some of my (innocuous) posts had been deleted without explanation. Last time I looked it resembled a primary school playground with all the petty insults flying around.

Sadly missed - NOT. Let's see whether any of the idiots show up over here.

HWZ serves most of that purpose. I always thought the angry board wasn't popular at all. It never came up often in search results. HWZ on the other hand always come up in google and boy they can be very angry as well, they put TRE users to shame

Seems like even their home page is down.

How long has this been happening?

Pal, not too sure as I rarely pass by there but I'd say the better part of this week anyway. It was already dead for a couple of days on the 18th.

Longer than that I reckon, more like coming up 2 weeks now.

I used to visit there, because there were plenty of happening characters and the atmosphere was... well, kind of electric, with an undertone of fun, with random appearances by the batty Colonel and British Airways, and threads about that odd-ball Vitamin lady always good for a giggle.

But then things got ugly, at which point the admins got real heavy-handed, yet utterly inconsistent. So then, just as many peeps predicted in their posts, the number of posters took a beating, some sections never receiving a single post for up to a week, even the once buzzing property section.

They'll be back though, I'm sure.

Odd that they allowed their home page to be down for so long!

Haven't they come under the new internet guidelines?

Why would they? They are just a forum like us and were behind us in ranking as well for a number of years now. Don't believe me. Google 'expat forum singapore' : first 5 listings on the first page. \:D/

Anyone who is still interested in maintaining the website, should sort out server downtime to a minimum.

I reckon they no longer wish to manage or the owner is not checking the site at all!

I must be confused about which board we're talking about - I thought the post was in reference to TRE.

No, we're talking about the one with the database error.

I wouldn't be surprised if they got yanked. I recall they got into trouble before, which, come to think of it, may be the reason they were so on the ball.

I'm glad I'm not a BM. Seems a right thankless job to me.
