Dammit; that spammer from Fujian is starting to get really annoying.

Call me Mr Suspicious (I've been called far worse), but I get the feeling that a person or persons unknown from A.N.Other board may have called on their Chinese spammer friends to try and disrupt our activities here.

I've just deleted rought 30 posts in the past hour from the same bunch in China all with 4 or 5 posts each.

We're shouldn't but I'm starting to selective block some IP address from China.

I have amended the registration form.

It should stop the bots from registering now.

Let's monitor.

Sorry for the trouble, I inserted some javascript on the registration form and thought it was enough to stop the auto registration by bot.

I was wrong and end up deleting more than 700+ bot accounts.

The previous "Registration Failed" script was re-enabled.

Some parts of the site are still up; looks like only the home page and message board are out to lunch. No idea about the reason obviously, but possible candidates would be apathy, incompetence, hackers, a knock on the door, etc...

Thank goodness; some of the bots didn't even show up in the 'active users' list and re-registered as soon as a I banned one.

These are automated scripts programmed to register in forum, activates the account, then starts spamming.

But surely bots or not, they will still appear as online. I find it peculiar that I've only seen one spambot on the active users list!

I've just deleted a brace of them again. Same format but instead of using England as their current location, they are using Germany but the IP still are from China and the structure is the same.

I think at this point it's safe to say R.I.P. A.B.
