Recommendation - TFS on Serangoon Road

Post by PNGMK » Thu, 15 Aug 2013 3:20 pm

The French Stall on Serangoon Road. My wife bought me dinner there last night to celebrate her first pay cheque (that's the correct spelling Bedok Yankee) in 3 years.

The prices are cheaper for the 3 course menu on M - Th and in my opinion good value. The food was excellent. Lots of street parking and probably 10 mins drive from where we live = win.

The chef is an authentic Michelin rated chef.

I will give it a try for sure. We eat at home 99% of the time and when I do say to the wife let's get a takeaway or eat out we have been disappointed. Mainly because we do not have friends here for recommendations (other that you good people of course!)

Last weekend we went to Jumbo at Riverside. Nice food but boy was it expensive! Couple of weeks before that we ordered delivery Indian food and it was barely OK. Prior to that an ill fated delivery order to Canadian Pizza.

As you can see we need help!!

Ok our recommendations

TFS
Marche (top of Vivo) for fresh food - expensive but good.
Yellow Chairs Prata shop on corner of Kim Keat Road and Kim Keat Lane (nr Balestier) (the offical name escapes me)
Tank Burger shop on Jalan Mohammed
Smokeys BBQ in Joo Chiat
North Indian place in Balestier Plaza (at the very front)
For Pizza I recommend nothing but my wife's pizza. I guess if you're really pushed Modestos at the hotel on Orchard Road is ok.
Tony Roma's for ribs
Level 31 for drinks and the view (in the Marina Bay Financial District)
Changi Village has a great burger place - I can't remember the name tho.

After 20 years I don't have much else to recommend. People say Singapore is a foodies paradise but those days are disappearing.

Forgot the kebab places...

Either the stall inside Wilkie House (a mall on the corner of Sophie and Wilkie) or Bussorah St (Amirah is ok).
