Opportunities for Dentists

Post by bloodhound123 » Wed, 14 Aug 2013 8:38 pm

My friend who has just completed her Bachelors in Dentistry at King's college London is trying to relocate to SG for her fiancee. She is a fresher and has just completed her house surgeon ( which I believe is a part of the course ).

Does anyone know if it is even possible to start practicing here after clearing the necessary exams/registrations? ( I see that University of London, of which King's college is a constituent member, is recognized by the Singapore Dental Association). There is not much data available on the forum with regard to dentistry except for a few Indian dentists venting out frustration at the fact that Indian dentistry degrees are not recognized by SDA.

Regards

The best way to tell is for her to apply for jobs through SDC. If they recognise the Qual. from Kings, then it should be fine.

However, dentists and doctors get extremely low pay in Singapore, unless they work privately

Thank you, Dr. Paul.

Is it even possible for freshers to secure a position as a dentist/doctor in SG? Or is prior experience mandatory? King's college is in the list of recognized degrees by SDC.

you might want to look at these links:

register as a dentist in SG
a blog from a dentist who came to SG instead of completing her DF1
entry level jobs in SG

She should contact QM or raffles dental. they offer mentorship training to young dentists

hope this helps
