140 $ to hang two lamps?

Post by Fortan » Mon, 12 Aug 2013 10:28 am

I have two lamps I need to hang over my dining table - both bought in IKEA and it should be fairly straight forward. I have ten thumbs, so to get it done right I want it done by an electrician. I was recommended one last week from a colleague and I phone him up today to get a quote. His quote was 140 $..... I said to him, you can't be serious? He was !

Is that really the kind of cost I am facing to hang two lamps? Power outage etc it all there above the table. All he has to do is connect and hang them.

I was thinking along the lines of 50-60$.... max...

Anyone know a cheaper electrician?

It actually sounds about right to me. Get a local to call up and ask in Singlish.

The price should be ~$40 per lamp (source: one landlady complaining about her husband not being able to do such things).
