Was under the impression that the property agents in Singapore are a prosperous lot. The newspost below seems to annul my understanding. It looks like if we are to fit the avg salaries of the agents in a bell curve with a mean ~S$2000/month, >99% of the agents' salaries would be within mean+1*sigma.

Sorry bloodhound123 but you can not quote that extensively especially with no source and no author name - it is actually a criminal offense.

There are all kinds of agents. There are only very few who are really rich, those that sold the Sentosa cove etc.
The avg agent who does HDB rentals/sales is as poor/rich as the any credit card marketing guy.
During the hay days of 2010 and 2011 most of them did very well. But in the current scenario lots of them are doing really bad. I know this from 1st hand experience. My HDB house owner is trying to sell the flat from last 5 months and still not sold. The agent has brought atleast 50 people to view our house in the last 5 months without any luck. Imagine the expenses that the agent needs to bear everytime he gets people to view. I have got quite close to him and know his story. He is actually also doing taxi driving to make up for the lower income.
