Positive this happened here in Singapore. The driver appeared to not speak English very well. I also think he "played dumb," although Bayshore and Beach don't sound anything alike except for the B sound at the beginning.

I thought the taxi driver could have been held 100% liable, if unsure, don't make the turn, wait for the light to turn in your favour.
