So.... after 101 air con technicians and auto electricians (well 5 in all)....it appears that no one here can do anything. It does not matter how many times I point out that their is enough gas, enough pressure and that all the pipes have been tested and that the compressor works ..... but that the computer turns off the zircon .... each technician will check the gas, check the pressure, check the pipes and come to the conclusion that it must be the compressor. So I say... it is not. They say it is. I say ... ok put power directly to the compressor and see if it works ... and he presto everytime it does. But ask a technician here to install a switch to bypass the computer and it is like talking to a glazed idiot. Can not. I say Can... they say Can not.
Bah... I am selling it. Anyone want at Kangoo van with 2 years left and no zircon... going cheap.

Did you ask Alan to wire up a switch? If he didn't do it drive by my place and I'll do it for you.

I am just over it now. Yes, asked for switch and was told no. So I am just going to sell as is.
Also I do not want to sell to someone if there is going to be ongoing problem - do not want to deceive. So think I will just disclose. The care is almost out of COE (18 months) so can be someones cheap drive for a while!

which shops have you visited to fix the aircon problem. I drive a kangoo (registered in 2000)myself. i added an external thermostat to control the switching on and off the the aircon. my problem was the compressor kept running and didnt want to disengage. can't PM yet.

i have 2 to suggest. Markcool at woodlands (who did my thermostat bypass) and Tomika and/or my mechanic John at sin ming who does mainly euro vans and is well versed with Kangoos and their idiosyncrasy.
you should be able to google their contact. in case the mods think i'm trying to drum up business for them.
i really doubt that no one can fix it. perhaps the ones you have gone to just cant be bothered with the trouble. i had my fair share of problems with the kangoo. nice to drive now that everything has been fixed.

nope still locked out till 5 post.
Your problem from what i understood is the magnetic clutch not being engaged? seems that there is nothing wrong with the magnetic clutch itself but the signals are somehow not getting to the magnetic clutch.
i see 2 possibilities.
1. the relay is damaged, thus the signal is sent from the ECU but the clutch does not get it. this should be a simple fix and most aircon mechs should be able to catch this problem.(so i'm inclined to believe that this isn't the problem)
2. the ECU is screwed(kinda hard to believe), like all of them has said and no signal is sent. this will then require some rewiring work to add in a thermostat to control the engagement and disengagement of the clutch. My thermostat was fixed sort of inside the engine compartment, at the side opposite where you fill in water for the windscreen wash. which means you cannot change the temps when driving.
I would give Markcool a shot first. But look for Ah Huat who is the foreman. he is the guru there. the boss might want to ask someone to look at it, but i believe in Ah huat and you should insist on him. You can google him and his name also appears in other forums and others have also given him good feedback. a trust worthy guy. but the problem is since he is rather good. many would go to him. so try to get there 1st thing in the morning and have him take a look. in case they give you the Ang Mo treatment (you are Caucasian?) try not to agree to anything you are not comfortable with, a quote and checking should be free.
I cant really remember how much the thermostat bypass that i added cost. but it was less than 200 if i remembered. maybe even less than 100? sorry cant remember. its been a while.
