Because good things dont last long
During boom times such things dont matter but during times like now, these things show up in the profitability and instead of fixing the problem, the management just decides that Singapore is too expensive so move everything to India and Poland
Not to mention, underworked means you are not gaining enough skills commensurate with your experience and overpaid means you are priced out of the market when you are forced to look out for a change

I'm underpaid (due to crappy salary negotiation when I was just fresh out of school. The company has a reputation of overpaying perm employees, so ironic!) but work-life is pretty balanced. The company doesn't have this overtime mentality. But I don't have enough to save. Hence a big dilemma I have been thinking about over and over again for some months now.

Brah and JR8 also seem to have disappeared.

I don't like being underworked. I left my last position due to boredom.

If you experience being underworked for any significant amount of time, you will know. It is boring as hell. Being overpaid cannot make up for that. Also, you are not gaining enough skills/experience in that case, though of course depends on how you sell it afterwards...

Similarly, you can get Singaporeans to work long after 6pm without too much difficulty but woe betide you if you try to get them to skip lunch. It is a cultural thing. It's not going to change anytime soon. So you just have to accept it.

I like that. I leave at 1pm, usually means I can get a seat.
