New S pass application while still on appeal?

Post by ayeesha » Wed, 24 Jul 2013 5:58 pm

Hi, Guys.

Need your help please! I already signed an offer with a company (company A) and they already applied for an S pass for me but it was rejected. The company already made an appeal and result will be in 2 weeks time.

However, I got another offer from another company (company B). Is it possible for company B to apply a new S pass for me while there is still an appeal with company A?

I don't know what to do because there is no guarantee that my S pass appeal with company A will be approved, yet I do not want to lose the opportunity with company B. Please help!

No. You have to have company A withdraw the appeal BEFORE company B files an application. Otherwise, it might take 8 to 12 weeks to get the spanner out of the works and by then the job offer will disappear and you will end up with both being rejected.

There are never any guarantees. It a chance you take when you get greedy.

Thank you for the response! So I really have to ask company A to withdraw the appeal first then ask company B to apply for a new S pass.

I thought it is the same when you like to change companies (at least from what I heard). The new company can apply a new pass for you and if that gets approved, you can then cancel the pass from your previous company. I thought it is the same case with the appeal. Regardless, thank you for the response. :)

Nope. It's okay to already have a pass issued and applying for another. But it's not okay to make to applications. If you are currently on an S pass, for instance, it okay to apply for and maybe get an IPA for a new company, but even then, if you make application by two new companies the same spanner in the work will happen. System glitch I guess. Keeps greedy people from getting a job and constantly flooding MOM with applications for new jobs. Just think of the load on the systems if everybody applied for 5 jobs at the same time.

Thats not gonna happen. Employer applies for pass only when you accept the offer and sign on the dotted line. People are generally confused between company A and B. Thats enough of a confusion and nightmare to handle. I dont think anyone wants C, D and E also thrown into the ring :)

It looks like I am going to end up in a similar situation. I am interviewing with both A and B. B is better than A. But somehow A's process is faster and they are ready to offer. I would love to take up A if B was never in the picture. But now B is there and their offer is getting delayed and making it a tough decision.

Thank god, I took the PEP, atleast there is no trouble on the MoM side of things.

Wd40, some of the stupidity I've seen of your countrymen (definitely a different class than yourself) I can see 'em signed on multiple dotted lines thinking they will take the first one that is approved. Let's face it. When you are here hoping to find that first job and not the brightest bulb in the chandelier you will try anything to secure a job before your meagre funds disappear. And that's when they get burned and the spanner thrown into the works. Most of the HR clerks here are not smart enough themselves to bother to ask if they have applied anywhere else, and of course they are not going to answer truthfully even if they have. Hence the problems we've seen here in the past. ](*,)
