Neocate LCP spare tins

Post by guyg » Tue, 23 Jul 2013 12:13 am

Hi we have about 6 tins that we no longer need (brought over from UK) as our son has grown out of his reflux. As it is so difficult to acquire seems a shame to waste it pleas get in touch if interested.

Sorry if this is breaking any forum rules

Getting neocate into Singapore?

Post by kleng » Thu, 25 Jul 2013 6:45 pm

Hi there can I please ask you a question about this. We are about to relocate from Australia to Singapore and my son has dairy allergy so takes Neocate LCP formula. In Australia, it can only be obtained on prescription. My paediatrician has given me a prescription for a 12 month supply - this will be approx 100 tins, but from my enquiries with the AVA, I will not be able to take this much into Singapore. How much were you able to take into Singapore at one time and did you apply for any special permissions to be able to do this?

Would appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks so much.

We can't remember all the details but we think it was about 16 or 20 tins. Approx half in luggage half in our shipment. 100 tins sounds like a lot bear in mind it is only intended for children up to one year and I assume if your child is on it then you will be encouraged to wean them at 4 months will reduce how much u need.

We had no problems with the shipment, we just gave the company a copy of the perscription and we weren't asked any questions by the airline. In our experience airlines and airports have been accommodating with regard to our babies needs, for instance allowing us to carry cool boiled water onto flights.

After arriving we did manage to buy some in Singapore (and surprisingly cheaply) through a nurse who nannied for us.

Our son is now 19mo and he's now on NAN HA. He seems to have outgrown all his reflux symptoms that he had at a young age. We never managed to get a clear diagnosis of the cause despite seeing a number of specialists.

Thanks, yes. My boy is already 2.5yrs but is still on it due to allergy. They say he will likely be on it for another 12-18 months. He has food intolerances as well as allergy so this is the best formula for him.
Interesting to know you managed to buy some in Singapore though as I enquired through Neocate and they told me they do not import there but can ship to me for AU$74 per tin!!!
I'll try to take as much as I can in my luggage and have family bring some across for me when they visit.
Thanks for your reply :)

Unfortunately we are not sure how she got them but we think it was through KK hospital perhaps worth calling their pharmacy. Like you we relied on friends and family to bring more over as we weren't able to get as much in one go from our doctor and the few tins we bought here were when we started running low.

Your welcome to our tins if u like, we are almost certainly going to end up throwing them away, which seems a shame.

Good luck

Hi I am in need of the neocate ask my son has CMA. Would it be possible to pick it up from you. Its really expensive ($120) per can here and there is no form of subsidy so I thrawl the net for people letting it go at cheap prices. Hope you can help. Thanks

Ssureal we fly out this week but I somehow managed to get my 12 mth supply into our luggage and shipping. Therefore I will be fine without these extra tins so if they are still available you take them. We are from Australia and it is heavily subsidised here but not in singapore. Did you not manage to ship some across? Can you have family send some? I have learnt you can bring 5kg per person in your luggage when you fly. That's 10 tins. So we are doing that. Good luck :)

Hi Kleng

it's most unfortunate that here there is no subsidy at all. My son currently turning 8 months soon is taking 1 tin every 4 days. So our cost has escalated tremendously. As u said in Australia you guys are subsidized so normally I try to source from forums and get parents with extra tins to sell to me. All the very best and thanks once again :)

Do you reckon, after a month, considering there was earlier interest, that the OP will still have them? :o
