im new to this forum and was wanting to get some advice/opinions on the chances of my PR application being successful.

I am engaged to a local Singaporean and planning to apply for PR after marriage.

my details are below:

age: 36
qlfns: B.Commerce (accounting); Chartered Accountant; MBA
income: S$160k equivalent
profession: accountant
nationality: Australian
race: Chinese
other: never lived or worked outside of Australia
net worth: S$800k equivalent

Partner's details

age: 30
qlfns: Bachelors degree
income: S$160k
profession: broker


how do my chances look and how could i increase them?

Perhaps one of the mods could move this to the 'PR, Citizenship, Passes & Visas for Foreigners' section; you're more likely to get responses there.

1) Get married (ROM in Singapore)
2) Knock out a couple of kids, male variety are best
3) Register kids as Singapore Citizens
4) Wait at least 2 years after ROM
5) Apply for PR
6) Wait at least 6 months for outcome

qn - so are you saying that with my particulars and situation, it's highly improbable i'd get PR after marriage?

i'm assuming a PR will increase my chances of employment given the hassles of needing to sponsor some body.

i've been applying while based in australia and have had no luck so i'm assuming not being on the ground and not having a PR is a factor.

my fiance and i do not intend to have kids for a few years yet.

Take a look at the link below which is the LTVP+. Even this pass you will only be able to apply after a few years of marriage so applying for PR straight after ROM really isn't an option.

I believe you should be able to work on dependent pass + letter of consent basis, but even that has been getting a bit more difficult.

Being on the ground is a very big factor here in general, since the market is very competitive. If you put yourself in a company's shoes, why would they interview somebody from abroad when they get 100+ applications here (of which a couple are actually suitable)?

i thought my and my fiances educational background/income profile would make use desirable residents?

also is there any harm in applying ie do failed attempts harm future chances?

Not an option as his wife to be is a Singapore Citizen

I would suggest after you've ROM is to take a trip to the ICA armed with Marriage Cert, Degree Certs, Payslip etc and have an imformal chat with the PR department. They will probably give you an indication whether you should apply straight away or wait.

BTW, I was in the exact same situation as you 6 years ago but we had already been married for 4 years. PR was approved within 3 months. But that was 6 years ago!

Some American lady in the forum got married to a local and her PR was approved within 4 months...

I don't work for ICA and this is no way a guaranteed outcome, but there's no harm applying

i'll give it a try and apply for LTVP at the same time so i can join my wife once we're husband and wife.

my assumption was that on the merits of my partner and i, I would fit the profile of desirable applicant.
