Haven't you heard?

* Everything in Australia is trying to kill you.
* All Americans have guns.
* Extremist Muslims are taking over the UK.

She forgot Canada:

* Canada is a frozen tundra of a wasteland.

just like you are entitled to have an opinion, I am very well entitled to one of my own. That being I prefer sg over other countries and u mocking at Muslims or Canada being cold makes you less of a person and not me. I asked the board for comments on appeal, waiting or drop the idea. I never asked where the hell should I move to if I don't get the PR  . Also, when there is already a message saying thanks for your inputs, Appreciate it. As said before, everyone is entitled to have their opinion, just how Singaporeans have an opinion towards FTs, FTs have their opinion too.. Just because they work elsewhere doesn't mean they cannot be mean and rude.. :D :D

Wondering how you did not bring up the little India riots into this

We are not deliberately trying to rain on your parade, here. We tend to err on the side of caution and do not, if we can help it, blow smoke (feel good words) but rather give the unvarnished truth as we see it. The regulars here have amassed a heck of a lot of anecdotal data that is constantly shifting regarding the current unspoken policies of the government here. We try our best to give the most accurate answers as we currently see them. Some of us are in those industries, some of us are HR functionaries, and some of us have been here for too long already! But you can always look on it as getting an accurate reading and if you go ahead and apply, you might get lucky! Or you might end up foregoing another offer that may well have had more legs in the long term but might have meant a major shift to a different country. We just try to give you enough perspective so as to help you make that decision and the attitude needed IF you do. If you apply in the face of overwhelming odds, two things can happen. More of the same or you get lucky (like the odds of winning the US powerball). Good Luck in any case.

Thanks SMS. You have answered my doubts pretty much.

Talk about a ridiculous generalisation :o I wouldn't be surprised if ICA would interpret it in the same way. An old adage comes to mind, re: being wary of a friend who criticises or back-stabs his other friends to you in conversation; i.e. it can be a good indicator that they might smile to your face, but then criticise you in a similar way to their other friends.

Sometimes I wonder if there is some kind of metric used by ICA re: PR applications, a kind of 'Desperation Index'. Because one gets a sense that those exhibiting high levels of desperation via the likes of repeat applications, running to MPs (when they can't even vote, for heavens sake!) are precisely the kind of people SG do not favour. Sudden 'volunteering' also carries a scent of cynical desperation, and is often selfish rather than selfless IMHO.

The point being made earlier, and in the whole it seems, is that presently SG doesn't want you as PRs. I suspect that they consider that you are applying more for self-centred reasons, rather than you fitting into SGs current needs and policies. And they've seen legions of your fellow countrymen get PR here and then shortly thereafter quit for greener pastures, even to 'unsafe' western countries.

So right now you're a square peg, slamming away desperately to fit a round hole. Have you read 'Who moved my cheese?'; it would seem prescient to your situation?

[Just my 2c, and in case it's not apparent, this is meant 101% constructively!]

p.s. Genuine LOL at the Eagle above ^
I strongly advice you to try finding a job at the ICA, seems like you are the mastermind who wrote the algorithm for approvals and rejections 8-) 8-)

Just to show everybody else that sms is still inside this keyboard, it's "I strongly advise..." not I strongly advice..."

Just doesn't do to try to be a nice guy around here. In the words of Rodney Dangerfield.....

"I don't get no respect"

Just to keep all the data intact for this thread.......

You seem agitated. The board's consensus is that your chance is almost NIL. What's the point of getting angry?
You are only waiting for the answer you want to hear.

So here it is: "Keep applying and one day you'll have it. It's your fate."

We were mistaken then.

You'll fit right in in Singapore--unable to detect sarcasm and hyperbole, takes things literally, have no sense of humor, easily presumes other people claim what they don't say at all, assumes they know the social dynamics in an established group they just entered, has poor reading comprehension, AND gets easily agitated.

The forum is to help understand and give suggestions on the PR application
. Not to be sarcastic or rude. Unless I asked should I think about moving my base to Australia, you have no right to tell me that. Also my point is I ended the conversation long back with Thanks which means uve been helpful and now go mind your own business and comment on other unanswered threads. :???:

Actually, Priya, this board is to be what ever we want it to be. This is NOT a quasi-government forum nor is it a subscription based forum. Therefore, unless a thread is posted in the Strictly Speaking sub-forum under the General Forum, then the threads are not "moderated" except for advertising/solicitors and trolls/spammers and or vulgarities/foul language or to calm down a tiff between regulars (very rare). We have every right to say whatever we feel like. The fact that you ended your conversation doesn't mean we cannot go on discussing it ad nauseum. This is a public board, not a private one.

Yes, I do.

That's what freedom of speech is all about. I haven't said anything non-factual about you as everything I said is drawn from my opinion so I'm not liable for any defamation.

And what? Australia, the US, the UK and Canada are gonna complain about what I said about them? Those countries are known to be bastions of comedy. And the extremist Muslims? Well, they're bonkers and Muslims in their right minds are disowning them anyway.

And before you go on, I need to remind you to check your privilege at the door because no matter how you think Singapore is lucky to have you, the ICA certainly won't. You're not the first PR aspirant to come here with that attitude and we certainly have dealt with worse.

Nice ... NOT.

And you are that there are some specialists who monitor this forum with intention of making expats like you (ahem) as example of who Singapore doesn't need ..and these folks are pretty resourceful at times in doing CSI work ...

I would really be careful what I write in a public forum .. that rule generally not applying to SmS though Image Image

A bit differently: you entitled to your opinion and are free to express it and you will not be liable to any defamation as long as it is clear it is your opinion only. It does not matter factual or speculative.
