Recommended condo to stay with budget of SGD3600 per month

Post by luvdog » Wed, 03 Jul 2013 2:23 pm

Hi,

I will be moving to SG soon for job posting. My work location would be at Tanjung Pagar area and I did a search online and found that condos around that area exceeded my budget.

Any one can recommend any good and nice place to stay with that budget?

Some of the things that I am looking for:

1) condos with gym and swimming pool
2) Near to MRT (preferably around 10-15 mins travelling time to Tanjung Pagar)
3) Fully furnished
4) I don't need big size as I am staying alone...thus, studio, 1 bedroom or max 2 bedroom would be fine for me as long as within the budget.

I was initially quite keen on Alexis nearby Queenstown but after reading some reviews, seem not so recommended. Any other nice condos around that you can recommend me?

Thanks very much.

You might be able to find an older cheaper place in Chinatown or Outram area. You might have to share. . is a good tool.

10-15 minutes from Tanjong Pagar by MRT is about a third of the island. You can easily find a condo in that price range around half or more of the MRT stations within that radius. There are numerous realestate search tools available that will let you look for rentals within X meters of a specific MRT station. I'd suggest trying to some of those.

One tip to help you though, don't bother looking along the North/South line. Most condos near MRT stations within your distance criteria will be more expensive, or crap. Look along the East/West (green line). If you go East, you'll definitely find stuff by Lavendar, Kallang, and Paya Lebar that are decent and in that budget. Anything past Paya Lebar will be more than 15 minutes. I'm not as familiar with the stations going west, but I suspect there are even nicer options in that direction.

I will contribute to the West side :P @zzm

10-15 minutes of MRT westward can put you up to Redhill station. Check out the condos around Stirling Road near Redhill MRT stations (one of them is Queens - my friend used to live there). You have even more options around Tiong Bahru MRT station but I have never been to any condo there personally.

If you don't mind taking buses instead of MRT, you can try condos along River Valley Road (the west end, not the east end closer to the Singapore river), Zion Road, Ganges Avenue. Half of the buses passes by Tanjong Pagar area directly from there. They have more condos than HDBs there so condo-shopping should be easier.

No idea on the rent though. I never looked into those personally. But I hope the info above can be good start.
