Where to go for October holidays?
Where to go for October holidays?
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone can recommend where to go for October holidays (2nd week of October) pls?
We were thinking Koh Samui or Bali. We know Phuket is the wrong choice for oct holidays but koh Samui is much better meaning no rain from that side.
Ditto for Bali.
Any other recommendations?
Cheers!

I am a huge fan of Bali, but if you are looking for something new, why not check out some of the more remote islands of Indonesia. Some really incredible things to see there. There are too many to list here, but my recommendation is the island of Flores. Absolutely beautiful. Can hop on a short flight there from Bali. Remote and relaxed.Cecile29 wrote:Hi,

Depends on what you want out of your holiday. Bali's beaches are not that great., but I love Bali for the shopping, variety of restaurants, massages and the friendly hospitality from the Balinese people. It's a place you can just relax and rejuvenate during the day and party at night. Definitely go if you love food. There are many fantastic restaurants.Cecile29 wrote:Hi,

I would recommend for you to stay in Seminyak. I feel its the more trendy part of bali. There are many beautiful villas with private pools for you to choose from. And you are also close to the action - bars and restaurants are within walking distance. I recommend Nuris BBQ ribs and home made pastas and pizzas at Tratorrio. Zappas bar has a great band you can dance to whilst getting sloshed on cocktails.

Rent a scooter. This is the best way to get around and explore kuta, legian and nusa dua. Rent a car and go to Ubud - rice paddies, monkey temple and enjoy some suckling pig...yummy!
You can also do diving, snorkelling and other water activities from Nusa Dua or Tulamben.
I hope you will love Bali as much as we do. We've been a few times over the years and been all around Bali.
Cheers,
M

I just got back from Bali over the long weekend. We stayed in Lembongan, which is a small island away from Bali. I would highly recommend the place, if you are looking for a great surfing beach, diving and chilled place. It is definitely not a party island, if that is what you are looking for.
Between Phuket & Samui, I would definitely go for Samui at a heartbeat. Phuket is getting more expensive and the higher prices does not comes with a better quality. Was in Phuket last month and had dinner (just starter, main and 1 glass of cocktail) set us back about S$200. Unfortunately, the food was not tasty, hence we decided to skip dessert.
For Oct, I am thinking of Japan myself, though I haven't booked anything yet. I heard the autumn is beautiful in Kyoto.
